The necessary procedures (adjustment, calibration, initialization or registration) that must be performed after parts are removed, installed or replaced during the pop up hood lifter assembly removal/installation are shown below.

    Note:

    After turning the power switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal notices before proceeding with work.

    DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE AUXILIARY BATTERY TERMINAL

    CAUTION:

    • Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal to disable the pedestrian protection system.

    • If the pop up hood lifter deploys for any reason, it may cause a serious accident.

    Note:

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected.

    REMOVE POP UP HOOD LIFTER ASSEMBLY LH

    • When storing the pop up hood lifter assembly LH even temporarily, be sure to keep the extended section side facing upward.

    • If the pop up hood lifter deploys for any reason, it may cause a serious accident.


    1. Check that the power switch is off.

    2. Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.

      CAUTION:
      B004UM0

      • Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal to disable the pedestrian protection system.

      • If the pop up hood lifter deploys for any reason, it may cause a serious accident.

    3. Disconnect pop up hood lifter connector.

      Note:

      When disconnecting pop up hood lifter connector, take care not to damage the wire harness.

        Push down the housing lock and slide the CPA. (At this time, the connector cannot be disconnected yet.)

      2. Push the housing lock again and disconnect the connector.

        Note:

        Do not push down the upper part of the CPA shown in the illustration when disconnecting the pop up hood lifter connector.

        After disconnecting the connector, check that the position of the housing lock is correct as shown in the illustration.

      Remove the 3 bolts.

    5. Lift up the pop up hood lifter assembly LH to detach the hook and remove it.

      While avoiding the air conditioning hose, pull out the pop up hood lifter assembly LH as shown in the illustration.

    • When storing the pop up hood lifter assembly RH even temporarily, be sure to keep the extended section side facing upward.

    1. Check that the power switch is off.

    2. Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.

      CAUTION:

      • Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal to disable the pedestrian protection system.

      • If the pop up hood lifter deploys for any reason, it may cause a serious accident.

      Disconnect pop up hood lifter connector.

      Note:

      When disconnecting pop up hood lifter connector, take care not to damage the wire harness.


      1. Push down the housing lock and slide the CPA. (At this time, the connector cannot be disconnected yet.)

      2. Push the housing lock again and disconnect the connector.

        Note:

        Do not push down the upper part of the CPA shown in the illustration when disconnecting the pop up hood lifter connector.

        After disconnecting the connector, check that the position of the housing lock is correct as shown in the illustration.

      Remove the 3 bolts.

    5. Lift up the pop up hood lifter assembly RH to detach the hook and remove it.

      Detach the hood lock control cable clamp.
