FUEL TANK(w/ Canister Pump Module) REMOVAL

The necessary procedures (adjustment, calibration, initialization or registration) that must be performed after parts are removed and installed, or replaced during fuel tank assembly removal/installation are shown below.

    Never perform work on fuel system components near any possible ignition sources.

  • Vaporized fuel could ignite, resulting in a serious accident.


  • B006AN0

    Do not perform work on fuel system components without first disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

  • Sparks could cause vaporized fuel to ignite, resulting in a serious accident.

Note

Do not try to remove the black nylon tube as it is welded to the fuel suction tube with pump and gauge assembly.

PROCEDURE


  1. PRECAUTION

    Note

    After turning the engine switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal notice before proceeding with work.

  2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

    Note

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected.

  3. REMOVE FUEL SUCTION TUBE WITH PUMP AND GAUGE ASSEMBLY

  4. REMOVE NO. 2 FUEL SENDER GAUGE ASSEMBLY

  5. DRAIN FUEL

  6. REMOVE PROPELLER WITH CENTER BEARING SHAFT ASSEMBLY

  7. REMOVE REAR LOWER SUSPENSION MEMBER STOPPER LH

      Remove the 3 bolts and rear lower suspension member stopper LH.

  8. DISCONNECT FUEL SUCTION TUBE SUB-ASSEMBLY

      Disconnect the fuel suction tube sub-assembly.

  9. DISCONNECT FUEL TANK VENT HOSE

      Detach the clamp and disconnect the fuel tank vent hose from the floor.

    2. Disconnect the fuel tank vent hose.

  10. DISCONNECT FUEL TANK WIRE

      Detach the clamp.

    2. Disconnect the fuel tank solenoid main valve assembly connector.

  11. DISCONNECT FUEL TANK MAIN TUBE SUB-ASSEMBLY

      Disconnect the fuel tank main tube sub-assembly.

  12. REMOVE NO. 1 FUEL TANK PROTECTOR

      Remove the clip from the No. 1 fuel tank protector.

    2. Detach the 2 claw and remove the No. 1 fuel tank protector from the fuel tank protector bracket.

  13. REMOVE FUEL TANK ASSEMBLY

      Using an engine lifter and attachments, support the fuel tank assembly.

    2. Remove the 4 bolts and 2 fuel tank bands.

      Slide the retainer and disconnect the fuel tank to filler pipe hose from the fuel tank assembly.

    4. Using an engine lifter, lower the fuel tank assembly and remove it.

      Note

      Do not allow the fuel tank assembly to contact the vehicle, especially the rear differential carrier assembly.

      Tech Tips

      Lower the engine lifter slowly.

  14. REMOVE FUEL TANK VENT HOSE

      Remove the fuel tank vent hose from the fuel tank assembly.

  15. REMOVE FUEL SUCTION TUBE SUB-ASSEMBLY

      Remove the fuel suction tube sub-assembly from the fuel tank assembly.

  16. REMOVE FUEL TANK MAIN TUBE SUB-ASSEMBLY

      Detach the 5 clamps and remove the fuel tank main tube sub-assembly from the fuel tank assembly.

  17. REMOVE NO. 4 FUEL TUBE CLAMP

      Remove the No. 4 fuel tube clamp from the fuel tank assembly.

  18. REMOVE FUEL TUBE GROMMET

      Remove the fuel tube grommet from the fuel tank assembly.

  19. REMOVE FUEL TUBE CLAMP BRACKET

      Remove the 2 fuel tube clamp brackets from the fuel tank assembly.

  20. REMOVE NO. 1 FUEL TANK PROTECTOR SUB-ASSEMBLY

      Remove the No. 1 fuel tank protector sub-assembly from the fuel tank assembly.
