CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT

The necessary procedures (adjustment, calibration, initialization or registration) that must be performed after parts are removed, installed or replaced during the instrument panel passenger airbag assembly removal/installation are shown below.

    Be sure to read precaution thoroughly before servicing.

    Note

    After turning the engine switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal notices before proceeding with work.

  2. REMOVE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT MAT SUB-ASSEMBLY

  3. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

    CAUTION:


    • Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

    • If the airbag deploys for any reason, it may cause a serious accident.

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected.

      Using a screwdriver, release the lock button and disconnect the airbag connector.

      Note

      When disconnecting any airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.

      Tech Tips


      • Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

      • Use the same procedure for the opposite side.

    2. Detach the wire harness clamp and remove the No. 2 instrument panel wire.

  8. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL PASSENGER AIRBAG ASSEMBLY

    • When storing the instrument panel passenger airbag assembly, keep the airbag deployment side facing upward.

    • If the airbag deploys for any reason, it may cause a serious accident.

      Remove the 2 screws.

      Insert moulding remover B, into the side of the airbag door facing the rear of the vehicle and detach the hooks.

    3. While holding the positions shown in the illustration, move the instrument panel passenger airbag assembly toward you, detach the hook near the front of the vehicle, and then remove the instrument panel passenger airbag assembly.
