POWER STEERING SYSTEM (for 2GR-FXE) Power Steering Warning Light Circuit

DESCRIPTION

The power steering ECU is connected to the combination meter via CAN communication. If any of the following conditions are detected, the power steering warning light remains on.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

Note


  • Inspect the fuses for circuits related to this system before performing the following inspection procedure.

  • If the power steering ECU assembly is replaced with a new one, perform assist map writing, clear the motor rotation angle sensor calibration value, initialize the motor rotation angle sensor value and calibrate the torque sensor zero point Click here.

PROCEDURE


  1. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR


    1. Turn the power switch on (READY).

    2. Check the indication condition of the power steering warning light by wiggling the power steering ECU connector and wire harness up, down, right and left.

      OK
      The power steering warning light indication condition does not change.

  2. CHECK CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM


    1. Check for DTCs Click here.

  3. READ VALUE USING GTS (IG POWER SUPPLY)


    1. Turn the power switch off.

    2. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    3. Turn the power switch on (IG).

    4. Turn the GTS on.

    5. Enter the following menus: Chassis / EMPS / Data List.

    6. Select the item "IG Power Supply" in the Data List and read the value displayed on the GTS.

  4. REPLACE POWER STEERING ECU ASSEMBLY


    1. Replace the power steering ECU assembly Click here.

    2. Perform assist map writing, clear the motor rotation angle sensor calibration value, initialize the motor rotation angle sensor value and calibrate the torque sensor zero point Click here.

    3. Check the illumination condition of the power steering warning light.

      OK
      The power steering warning light illuminates with the power switch on (IG) and turns off after the power switch turned from ON (IG) to ON (READY).

  5. CHECK TERMINAL VOLTAGE (IG)


    1. Disconnect the power steering ECU connector.
