B162A Side Airbag Sensor Assembly No.2 (RH)

DESCRIPTION

The side collision sensor RH circuit consists of the airbag ECU assembly, door side airbag sensor RH, side airbag sensor assembly RH, rear airbag sensor RH and No. 2 side airbag sensor assembly RH.

The door side airbag sensor RH, side airbag sensor assembly RH, rear airbag sensor RH and No. 2 side airbag sensor assembly RH detect impacts to the vehicle and send signals to the airbag ECU assembly to determine if the airbags and pretensioners should be deployed.

DTC B162A is stored when a malfunction is detected in the No. 2 side airbag sensor assembly RH.

Note


  • After turning the power switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal notices before proceeding with work.

  • When disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal while performing repairs, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected.

PROCEDURE


  1. CHECK NO. 2 SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY RH


    1. B004SY8C31
      *1 No. 2 Side Airbag Sensor Assembly LH
      *2 Airbag ECU Assembly

      Turn the power switch off.

    2. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.

    3. Interchange the No. 2 side airbag sensor assembly RH with LH and connect the connectors.

    4. Connect the cable to the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds.

    5. Turn the power switch on (IG), and wait for at least 60 seconds.

    6. Clear the DTCs stored in memory.

    7. Turn the power switch off.

    8. Turn the power switch on (IG), and wait for at least 60 seconds.

    9. Check for DTCs.

      Tech Tips

      Codes other than DTCs B162A and B163A may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.

    10. Turn the power switch off.

    11. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.

    12. Return the No. 2 side airbag sensor assembly LH and RH to their original positions and connect the connectors.
