Follow the instructions of the notice. * Use a volt/ohmmeter with high impedance (10 kΩ/V minimum) for troubleshooting electrical circuits of the system. * If the following parts have been dropped, or have cracks, dents and other defects in their case, bracket, and connector replace with new one. * For the purpose of reuse, never disassemble and repair the following parts. * Never use SRS parts from another vehicle. When replacing parts, replace with new parts. * Even in cases of a minor collision where the SRS does not deploy, the following parts should be inspected; * Do not expose the following parts directly to hot air or flame; * Before repair, remove the airbag sensor if shocks are likely to be applied to the sensor during repair. * Steering wheel pad * Front passenger airbag assembly * Seat belt pretensioner * Center airbag sensor assembly * Front airbag sensor assembly * Malfunction symptoms of the SRS are difficult to confirm, so the DTCs become the most important source of information when troubleshooting. When troubleshooting the SRS, always inspect the DTCs before disconnecting the battery. NOTICE :When inspecting or repairing the SRS, perform service in accordance with the following precautionary instructions and the procedure, and precautions in the Repair Manual applicable for the model year. * When the negative (-) terminal cable is disconnected from the battery, the memory of the clock and audio system will be cleared. So before starting work, make a record of the contents in the audio memory system. When work is finished, reset the audio systems as they were before and adjust the clock. Some vehicles have power tilt steering, power telescopic steering, power seat and power outside rear view mirror which are all equipped with memory function. However, it is not possible to make a record of these memory contents. So when the work is finished, it will be necessary to explain it to your customer, and ask the customer to adjust the features and reset the memory. To avoid erasing the memory in each system, never use a back-up power supply from outside the vehicle. * Work must be started more than 90 seconds after the ignition or starter switch assembly is turned to the "LOCK" position (Ignition switch type) or the engine switch is pushed to the "OFF" poition (Engine switch type) and the negative (-) terminal cable is disconnected from the battery. (The SRS is equipped with a back-up power source so that if work is started within 90 seconds from disconnecting the negative (-) terminal cable of the battery, the SRS may deploy.) * Side airbag assembly * Curtain shield airbag assembly * Side airbag sensor assembly * Rear airbag sensor assembly W Y G R G Y 13 14 12 11 W-B B M6 M5 L13 LSP- W 4 B 21 13 12 7.5A IGN 3 G P 1 B B W R1 9 12 B B 16 2E (IG) 3 1 IG * 1 :w/ Smart Key System * 2 :w/o Smart Key System 1 2 L+ R+ L- R- P- P2- ICL- 5 B B 11 10 4 Y-R Y-G P-AB PAON A 2 (*4) B 1 A B 2 (*5) 1 Front Airbag Sensor LH Front Airbag Sensor RH Center Airbag Sensor Assembly Center Airbag Sensor Assembly Front Passenger Side Squib Circuit Rear Airbag Sensor Assembly LH Side Airbag Squib Circuit LH Curtain Shield Airbag Assembly LH Front Seat Inner Belt Assembly LH Side Airbag Sensor Assembly LH Front Seat Outer Belt Assembly LH Curtain Shield Airbag Assembly RH Side Airbag Squib Circuit RH Occupant Detection ECU Side Airbag Sensor Assembly RH Front Seat Outer Belt Assembly RH Rear Airbag Sensor Assembly RH Seat Position Sensor Seat Belt Tension Sensor (*4) Front Seat Inner Belt Assembly RH (*3) (*3) (*3) (*3) (*3) (*3) (*3) (*3) (*3) (*3) A 2 A 1 B 2 B 1 1 2 3 4 Y Y-B Y-G Y-R P2+ A 1 A 4 A 2 B 3 (*5) 2 1 RBE- RBE+ 2 16 17 8 14 (*3) (*3) (*3) (*3) (*3) (*3) AIRBAG ON/OFF Indicator 6 10 W-B Buckle Switch 2 Buckle Switch 2 E46 10A ECU-B LED DRIVER 5V +B CAN I/F SRS 5V IC B IG+ ET CANL 32 33 2 2S 30 30 2B 28 27 CANH BR 2M 1 (IG) 7.5A METER 1 2 (BAT) P W B Combination Meter Assembly CPU E48(A),(B) B V 10A ECU-IG NO.2 2S 15 (IG) Telltale Light Assembly PS GPS GR W GPS PS R3 6 15 Occupant Detection Sensor 2 1 VPS LG VPS 7 3 CANL CANH (*2) 22 16 C G W 15 4 E52(C),E61(D) 5 12 16 1 14 6 CANL CANH 13 2 LG W E71 D Junction Connector A47 W W B B 9 20 17 6 25 9 R W Main Body ECU Junction Connector 41 A ECM CANH CANL A50(A) A 49 Y W 10 21 C 15 23 D (*1) 2E 31 2S 3 DLC3 E11 G W SIL 7 W W B B W Center Airbag Sensor Assembly E14(A),L16(B),M8(C) * 5 :w/o Power Seat * 4 :w/ Power Seat * 3 :w/ Side Airbag W W W W W W W 22 13 CANH A CANL A W Y Junction Connector E71 D+ D2- D- D2+ 1 A 2 A 4 A 3 A 2 B 1 B 2 C 1 C Spiral Cable Sub-Assembly E7(A),Y3(B),Y4(C) Driver Side Squib Circuit Y3(B) MR1 MR1 AE10 AE10 AE4 AE4 EU1 EU1 EU1 EU1 MR1 MR1 EM3 MR1 MR1 MR1 MR1 EM3 AE8 AE8 E2 M1 E1 E2 M2
