CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT

The necessary procedures (adjustment, calibration, initialization or registration) that must be performed after parts are removed, installed or replaced during the instrument panel passenger airbag assembly removal/installation are shown below.

    Be sure to read Precaution thoroughly before servicing.

    Note

    After turning the ignition switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal notice before proceeding with work.

  2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

    CAUTION:


    • Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

    • If the airbag deploys for any reason, it may cause a serious accident.

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected.

    CAUTION:

    • When storing the instrument panel passenger airbag assembly, keep the airbag deployment side facing upward.

    • If the airbag deploys for any reason, it may cause a serious accident.


    1. w/o Selectable Vent Hole:


      1. Using a screwdriver, release the connector lock and disconnect the airbag connector.

        Note

        When disconnecting any airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.

        Tech Tips

        Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

    2. w/ Selectable Vent Hole:


      1. Using a screwdriver, release the 2 connector locks and disconnect the 2 airbag connectors.

        Note

        When disconnecting any airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.

        Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

    3. Detach the wire harness clamp.

    4. Remove the 2 screws.

    5. Insert moulding remover B into the side of the airbag door facing the rear of the vehicle and bend moulding remover B to detach the hook.

    6. Raise the instrument panel passenger airbag assembly in the direction indicated by the arrow shown in the illustration to detach the hook on the side of the airbag door facing the front of the vehicle and remove the instrument panel passenger airbag assembly.
