BACK WINDOW GLASS REMOVAL

CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT

The necessary procedures (adjustment, calibration, initialization, or registration) that must be performed after parts are removed, installed, or replaced during the back window glass removal/installation are shown below.

PROCEDURE

    Note

    After turning the engine switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal notices before proceeding with work.

  2. REMOVE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT MAT SUB-ASSEMBLY

  3. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL


    1. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

      CAUTION:


      • After disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, wait for at least 90 seconds to start the operation.

      • If the airbag deploys for any reason, it may cause a serious accident.

      When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected.

  10. REMOVE BACK WINDOW GLASS

    Note

    The back window glass may fall while performing this procedure. Therefore, use suction cups to hold the back window glass from the outside of the vehicle. The back window glass may fall while performing this procedure. Therefore, use suction cups to hold the back window glass from the outside of the vehicle.


    1. Disconnect each connector.

      B006GBM Protective Tape

      Apply protective tape to the outer surface of the vehicle body to prevent scratches.

    3. Using a knife, cut off the No. 1 back window moulding as shown in the illustration.

      Note


      • Do not damage the back window glass or body panel.

      • If the body panel is damaged, perform rust-prevention treatment after removing the back window glass.

      Tech Tips

      Use the same procedure for both upper outside back window moulding RH.

    4. When reusing the back window glass:


      1. B006CYOC01
        *a Matchmarks

        Place matchmarks over the glass and vehicle body at the locations indicated in the illustration.

      2. Install the suction cups to the back window glass.

    5. B006C8FC02
      *1 Back Window Glass Stopper
      *a Piano Wire

      From the interior, insert a piano wire between the vehicle body and glass as shown in the illustration.

    6. Tie objects that can serve as handles (for example, wooden blocks) to both wire ends.

      Note

      When separating the glass from the vehicle, be careful not to damage the vehicle paint or interior/exterior ornaments.

    7. Cut through the adhesive by pulling the piano wire around the glass. (Leave the back window glass stopper)

      Note

      When working near the back window glass connector, be careful not to damage it with the piano wire.

    8. Using suction cups, disconnect the 2 back window glass stoppers and remove the back window glass.

      Note

      Do not drop the back window glass.

  11. REMOVE NO. 1 BACK WINDOW MOULDING


    1. When reusing the back window glass:

        *a Backside

        Using a gasket scraper, remove the No. 1 back window moulding from the back window glass.

        Note


        • Do not damage the back window glass.

        • Be sure to replace the No. 1 back window moulding with a new one.

  12. REMOVE BACK WINDOW GLASS DAM KIT


    1. When reusing the back window glass:

        Using a gasket scraper, remove the back window glass dam kit from the back window glass.

        Note


        • Do not damage the back window glass.

        • Be sure to replace the back window glass dam kit with a new one.

  13. REMOVE BACK WINDOW GLASS DAM KIT


    1. When reusing the back window glass:

        Using a gasket scraper, remove the 6 back window glass dam kits from the back window glass.

        Note


        • Do not damage the back window glass.

        • Be sure to replace the back window glass dam kit with a new one.

  14. REMOVE WINDSHIELD GLASS SEAL


    1. When reusing the back window glass:

        Using a gasket scraper, remove the windshield glass seal from the back window glass.

        Note


        • Do not damage the back window glass.

        • Be sure to replace the windshield glass seal with a new one.

  15. REMOVE CENTER STOP LIGHT BRACKET LH


    1. When reusing the back window glass:

        Using a gasket scraper, remove the center stop light bracket LH from the back window glass.

        Note

        Do not damage the back window glass.

  16. REMOVE CENTER STOP LIGHT BRACKET RH


    1. When reusing the back window glass:

        Using a gasket scraper, remove the center stop light bracket RH from the back window glass.

        Note

        Do not damage the back window glass.

  17. REMOVE CENTER STOP LIGHT WIRE


    1. When reusing the back window glass:


      1. B0069LBC01
        *a Backside

        Using a gasket scraper, remove the center stop light wire from the back window glass.

        Note


        • Do not damage the back window glass.

        • Be sure to replace the center stop light wire with a new one.

  18. REMOVE NO. 1 BACK WINDOW GLASS STOPPER


    1. When reusing the back window glass:

        for 1-piece Type:

        Using a gasket scraper, remove the 2 No. 1 back window glass stopper from the back window glass.

        Note


        • Be careful not to damage the back window glass.

        • Be sure to replace the No. 1 back window glass stopper with a new one.

      2. B006BLW

        for 2-piece Type:

        Using a gasket scraper, remove the 2 No. 1 back window glass stoppers from the body.

        Note


        • Be careful not to damage the back window glass.

        • Be sure to replace the No. 1 back window glass stopper with a new one.

  19. REMOVE NO. 2 BACK WINDOW GLASS STOPPER (for 2-piece Type)


    1. When reusing the back window glass:


      1. B006D1T

        Using a gasket scraper, remove the 2 No. 2 back window glass stoppers from the back window glass.

        Note


        • Be careful not to damage the back window glass.

        • Be sure to replace the No. 2 back window glass stoppers with a new one.
