ROOF HEADLINING (for Double Cab) REMOVAL

Tech Tips


  • Use the same procedure for RHD and LHD vehicles.

  • The procedure listed below is for LHD vehicles.


  1. PRECAUTION (w/ Airbag System)

    Note

    After turning the ignition switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal notice before proceeding with work Click here.

  2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL (w/ Airbag System)

    CAUTION:

    Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

    Note

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Click here.

  3. REMOVE REAR SEAT ASSEMBLY

  4. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH

    1. Put protective tape around the front door scuff plate.

    2. Using a moulding remover, detach the 7 claws and 3 clips, and remove the front door scuff plate.

  5. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE RH

  6. REMOVE FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM LH

    1. Remove the front door opening trim.

  8. REMOVE FRONT NO. 1 ASSIST GRIP PLUG LH (w/ Assist Grip)

    Use the same procedure for both front No. 1 assist grip plugs.


    1. Using a screwdriver, detach the 2 claws and remove the front No. 1 assist grip plug.

      Tech Tips

      Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

  9. REMOVE FRONT NO. 1 ASSIST GRIP PLUG RH (w/ Assist Grip)

    Use the same procedure described for the LH side.

  10. REMOVE FRONT ASSIST GRIP SUB-ASSEMBLY (w/ Assist Grip)

    1. Remove the 2 screws and front assist grip.

  11. REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISH LH

    1. Detach the 2 clips and 2 guides and remove the front pillar garnish.

      w/ Curtain Shield Airbag:

      Protect the curtain shield airbag assembly.


      1. Thoroughly cover the airbag with a cloth or nylon sheet and fix the ends of the cover with adhesive tape, as shown in the illustration.

        Note

        Cover the curtain shield airbag with a protective cover as soon as the front pillar garnish is removed.

  12. REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISH RH

  13. REMOVE REAR DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH

    1. Put protective tape around the rear door scuff plate.

    2. Using a moulding remover, detach the 7 claws and 2 clips, and remove the rear door scuff plate.

  17. REMOVE LOWER CENTER PILLAR GARNISH LH

    1. Remove the bolt and disconnect the front seat outer belt floor anchor.

      Detach the 2 claws, 2 guides and 2 clips and remove the lower center pillar garnish.

  18. REMOVE LOWER CENTER PILLAR GARNISH RH

  19. REMOVE CENTER PILLAR GARNISH LH

    1. Using a screwdriver, detach the 4 claws and remove the front seat belt shoulder anchor cover.

      Tech Tips

      Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

    2. Remove the bolt and disconnect the front seat belt shoulder anchor.

      Detach the clip.

    4. Pull the center pillar garnish in the direction indicated by the arrow in the illustration to detach the guide and remove the center pillar garnish.

  20. REMOVE CENTER PILLAR GARNISH RH

  21. REMOVE UPPER BACK PANEL GARNISH

    1. Detach the 4 claws and 5 clips and remove the upper back panel garnish.

  22. REMOVE LOWER QUARTER TRIM PANEL LH

    1. Detach the claw and 3 clips and remove the lower quarter trim panel.

  24. REMOVE QUARTER INSIDE TRIM BOARD LH

    1. Using a screwdriver, detach the 2 claws and open the rear seat belt shoulder anchor cover.

      Tech Tips

      Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

    2. Remove the bolt and disconnect the rear seat belt shoulder anchor.

      Detach the 4 clips and remove the quarter inside trim board.

  25. REMOVE QUARTER INSIDE TRIM BOARD RH

  26. REMOVE MAP LIGHT ASSEMBLY

      Remove the 2 screws.

    2. Detach the claw and 2 guides and remove the map light assembly.

    3. Disconnect the connector.

  27. REMOVE NO. 1 ROOM LIGHT ASSEMBLY

      Using a screwdriver, detach the 4 claws and remove the lens.

      Tech Tips

      Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

    3. Disconnect the lamp connector.

  28. REMOVE VISOR ASSEMBLY LH

    2. Remove the 2 screws and visor.

    1. Using a screwdriver, detach the 4 claws and open the 2 covers.

      Remove the 3 clips and No. 2 heater to register duct.

      Remove the clip.

    2. Detach the 3 claws and remove the No. 1 heater to register duct.

    2. Detach the 4 claws and remove the No. 3 heater to register duct.

  38. REMOVE DEFROSTER NOZZLE ASSEMBLY (w/ Defroster)

      Using a screwdriver, detach the 4 clips and remove the defroster nozzle assembly.

    2. Remove the defroster nozzle assembly.

  39. REMOVE BACK WINDOW GLASS

  40. REMOVE ROOF HEADLINING ASSEMBLY

    1. Detach the 5 clamps from the front pillar.

    2. for LHD:

        Disconnect the connectors and detach the 4 clamps.

        Using a clip remover, remove the clips.

      3. Remove the roof headlining as shown in the illustration.

        Note

        Be careful not to damage the roof headlining when removing it.

    3. for RHD:


      1. Disconnect the connectors and detach the 5 clamps.

        Using a clip remover, remove the clips.

      3. Remove the roof headlining as shown in the illustration.

        Note

        Be careful not to damage the roof headlining when removing it.

  41. REMOVE FRONT SIDE RAIL SPACER LH

    1. Detach the 2 claws and remove the front side rail spacer.

  42. REMOVE FRONT SIDE RAIL SPACER RH

    1. Detach the 2 claws and remove the rear No. 2 side rail spacer.
