ECD SYSTEM (w/ EGR Cooler), Diagnostic DTC:P0105, P0107, P0108

DTC Code DTC Name
P0105 Manifold Absolute Pressure / Barometric Pressure Circuit
P0107 Manifold Absolute Pressure / Barometric Pressure Circuit Low Input
P0108 Manifold Absolute Pressure / Barometric Pressure Circuit High Input

DESCRIPTION

The manifold absolute pressure sensor detects the intake manifold pressure by using its built-in sensor unit. The ECM determines the basic injection duration and injection advance timing based on the voltage output by the manifold absolute pressure sensor.

A01E2LVE04

The manifold absolute pressure sensor monitors the absolute pressure inside the intake manifold (default is 0 kPa [0 mmHg, 0 in.Hg]). As a result the ECM controls the air-fuel ratio at the proper level under any driving conditions, and fuel control accuracy is not influenced by fluctuations in the atmospheric pressure due to factors such as high altitude, etc.

Tech Tips

  • If different DTCs related to different systems that have terminal E2 as the ground terminal are output simultaneously, terminal E2 may have an open circuit.

  • Read freeze frame data using the intelligent tester. Freeze frame data records the engine condition when malfunctions are detected. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can help determine if the vehicle was moving or stationary, if the engine was warmed up or not, and other data from the time the malfunction occurred.

PROCEDURE

  1. READ VALUE USING INTELLIGENT TESTER (MAP)

    1. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the ignition switch ON and turn the tester ON.

    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Data List / MAP.

    4. Read the value.

      Standard
Same value as the actual atmospheric pressure.

    OK
    NG
  2. CHECK ECM (VC VOLTAGE)

    1. A01DXHUE12

      Turn the ignition switch ON.

    2. Measure the voltage of the ECM connector.

      Standard voltage
      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      VC (E8-18) - E2 (E8-28) 4.5 to 5.5 V

    NG
    OK
  3. INSPECT ECM (PIM VOLTAGE)

    1. A01DXHUE13

      Turn the ignition switch ON.

    2. Measure the voltage of the ECM connectors.

      Standard voltage
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      PIM (E7-28) - E2 (E8-28) Applied negative pressure of 40 kPa (300 mmHg, 11.8 in.Hg) 0.1 to 0.7 V
      PIM (E7-28) - E2 (E8-28) Same as atmospheric pressure 0.8 to 1.5 V
      PIM (E7-28) - E2 (E8-28) Applied positive pressure of 170 kPa (1,275 mmHg, 50.2 in.Hg) 1.6 to 2.3 V

      Tech Tips

Even when the output voltage from the manifold absolute pressure sensor is within the specified voltage range, there may be a problem in the sensor caused by age deterioration.

    OK
    NG
  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (MANIFOLD ABSOLUTE PRESSURE SENSOR - ECM)

    1. A01DWB0E06

Disconnect the T9 manifold absolute pressure sensor connector.

    2. Disconnect the E7 and E8 ECM connectors.

    3. Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connectors.

      Standard resistance (Check for open)
      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      PIM (T9-2) - PIM (E7-28) Below 1 Ω
      VC (T9-3) - VC (E8-18) Below 1 Ω
      E (T9-1) - E2 (E8-28) Below 1 Ω
      Standard resistance (Check for short)
      Tester Connection Specified Condition
PIM (T9-2) or PIM (E7-28) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher
VC (T9-3) or VC (E8-18) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher
