KNEE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY REMOVAL


  1. REMOVE BATTERY SERVICE HOLE COVER


    1. A01ITOM

      Remove the clip and battery service hole cover.

  2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

    CAUTION:

    Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

    Note


    • w/ Navigation System (for HDD):

      After the ignition switch is turned off, the HDD navigation system requires approximately a minute to record various types of memory and settings. As a result, after turning the ignition switch off, wait a minute or more before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

    • When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Click here.

  3. REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY

    1. Remove the 2 screws <A>.

    2. Detach the claw and guide, and remove the No. 1 instrument panel under cover.

  4. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL END LH

    1. for Automatic Air Conditioning System:


      1. Put protective tape around the instrument panel finish panel end.

      2. Using a moulding remover, detach the 3 clips and 2 guides, and remove the instrument panel finish panel end.

      1. Put protective tape around the instrument panel finish panel end.

      2. Using a moulding remover, detach the 3 clips and guide, and remove the instrument panel finish panel end.

  5. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL END RH

      1. Put protective tape around the instrument panel finish panel end.

      2. Using a moulding remover, detach the 3 clips, claw and 2 guides, and remove the instrument panel finish panel end.

      1. Put protective tape around the instrument panel finish panel end.

      2. Using a moulding remover, detach the 3 clips, claw and guide, and remove the instrument panel finish panel end.

  6. REMOVE CENTER INSTRUMENT PANEL REGISTER ASSEMBLY

    1. Detach the 8 claws and 4 guides.

    2. Disconnect the connector and remove the center instrument panel register.

  7. REMOVE RADIO RECEIVER ASSEMBLY (w/ Audio)


    1. for Radio Receiver Type:

      Remove the radio receiver assembly Click here.

    2. for Radio and Display Type:

      Remove the radio receiver assembly Click here.

  8. REMOVE CENTER INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY (w/o Audio)

    1. Detach the 4 clips, 3 claws and 3 guides, and remove the center instrument cluster finish panel.

  9. REMOVE STEREO OPENING COVER WITH BRACKET (w/o Audio)

    1. Remove the 4 bolts and stereo opening cover.

  10. REMOVE SHIFT LEVER KNOB SUB-ASSEMBLY


    1. Twist the shift lever knob in the direction indicated by the arrow and remove it.

  11. REMOVE POSITION INDICATOR HOUSING ASSEMBLY (except Manual Transaxle)

    1. Detach the 5 claws and 3 clips.

    2. Disconnect the connector and remove the position indicator housing.

  12. REMOVE SHIFTING HOLE COVER (for Manual Transaxle)

    *1 T Washer

    1. Twist the T washer in the direction indicated by the arrow and remove it.

    2. Remove the knob spring.

    3. Detach the 5 claws and 3 clips, and remove the shifting hole cover.

  13. REMOVE LOWER CENTER INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL (for Manual Transaxle)

    1. for Automatic Air Conditioning System:


      1. Remove the 2 screws <C>.

      2. Detach the 2 claws, 4 clips and 5 guides, and remove the lower center instrument panel finish panel.

        Tech Tips

        If the 2 claws shown in the illustration are difficult to detach, detach the 4 clips of the air conditioning control and remove the lower center instrument panel finish panel together with the air conditioning control.

    2. A01IN3V

      for Manual Air Conditioning System:


      1. Remove the 2 screws <C>.

      2. Detach the 4 clips, 2 claws and 5 guides, and remove the lower center instrument panel finish panel.

  14. REMOVE LOWER CENTER INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL (except Manual Transaxle)

    1. for Automatic Air Conditioning System:


      1. Remove the 3 screws <C>.

      2. Detach the 2 claws, 4 clips and 5 guides, and remove the lower center instrument panel finish panel.

        Tech Tips

        If the 2 claws shown in the illustration are difficult to detach, detach the 4 clips of the air conditioning control and remove the lower center instrument panel finish panel together with the air conditioning control.

    2. A01IOIV

      for Manual Air Conditioning System:


      1. Remove the 3 screws <C>.

      2. Detach the 4 clips, 2 claws and 5 guides, and remove the lower center instrument panel finish panel.

  15. REMOVE NO. 2 SWITCH HOLE BASE

    1. for LHD:

      Detach the 5 claws and 5 clips, and remove the No. 2 switch hole base.

    2. A01IQ8G

      for RHD:

      Detach the 3 claws and 5 clips, and remove the No. 2 switch hole base.

  16. REMOVE NO. 1 SWITCH HOLE BASE

    1. w/ Entry and Start System:


      1. Detach the 2 claws and 2 clips.

      2. Disconnect the connector and remove the No. 1 switch hole base.

    2. A01ISBI

      w/o Entry and Start System:


      1. Detach the 2 claws and 2 clips, and remove the No. 1 switch hole base.

  17. REMOVE STEERING COLUMN COVER


    1. A01INOZ

      Detach the claw and 2 pins, and remove the upper steering column cover.

  18. REMOVE LOWER NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL AIRBAG ASSEMBLY


    1. A01IP8D

      Remove the 4 bolts.

    2. Detach the 6 claws and remove the instrument panel airbag.

    3. Disconnect the connector.

      Note

      When handling the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.
