DESCRIPTION

If an incorrect power steering ECU assembly or combination meter assembly is installed, DTC C1582 and C1583 is stored as the vehicle specification and data do not match.

Tech Tips

The assist map is data written in the power steering ECU assembly to control the degree of assistance. The assist map is selected based on the vehicle's specified communication data.

Note

If the power steering ECU assembly is replaced with a new one, perform rotation angle sensor initialization and torque sensor zero point calibration Click here.

PROCEDURE


  1. CHECK FOR DTC (CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM)


    1. Using the GTS, check for DTCs and confirm that there are no problems in the CAN communication system Click here.

      OK
      DTC is not output.

    NG
    OK
  2. CHECK COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY


    1. Check if a combination meter assembly that complies with the vehicle specifications is installed.


    NG
    OK
  3. CHECK ASSIST MAP


    1. Check for assist map.

      OK
      MAP2 is output.

    NG
    OK
  4. CLEAR ASSIST MAP

    Tech Tips

    Repeat the clear assist map process 2 or 3 times and check the results.


    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    3. Turn the GTS on.

    4. Enter the following menus: Chassis / EMPS / Utility / Assist Map Confirmation / Clear.

    5. Clear the assist map following the instructions on the GTS screen.

    6. Start the engine.

      Tech Tips

      If no assist map is currently written, it will be written in the ECU when the engine is started while the vehicle is stationary.

    7. Enter the following menus: Chassis / EMPS / Utility / Assist Map Confirmation / Clear.

    8. Check that "MAP2" is displayed on the GTS screen.

      OK
      MAP2 is output.
