VEHICLE STABILITY CONTROL SYSTEM VSC OFF Indicator Light Remains ON

DESCRIPTION

The skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) is connected to the combination meter assembly via CAN communication.

Pressing the VSC OFF switch turns off TRC and pressing and holding this switch turns off TRC and VSC. If VSC is turned off, the VSC OFF indicator light will come on.

PROCEDURE


  1. CHECK CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM


    1. Check if a CAN communication system DTC is output Click here.

  2. CHECK IF BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY CONNECTOR IS SECURELY CONNECTED


    1. Check if the skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) connector is securely connected.

      OK
      The connector is securely connected.

  3. CHECK BATTERY


    1. Check the battery voltage.

      Standard Voltage
      11 to 14 V

  4. READ VALUE USING GTS (VSC OFF SWITCH)


    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    3. Select the Data List using the GTS Click here.

    4. Using the GTS, check that the switch condition displayed on the GTS changes according to VSC OFF switch operation.

  5. READ VALUE USING GTS (TRACK SWITCH)


    1. Select the Data List using the GTS Click here.

    2. Using the GTS, check that the switch condition displayed on the GTS changes according to TRACK switch operation.

  6. INSPECT COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY


    1. Perform an Active Test of the combination meter assembly (meter CPU) using the GTS Click here.

    2. Check the combination meter assembly.

      OK
      The VSC OFF indicator and TRACK indicator lights turn on or off in accordance with the Active Test operation.

  7. INSPECT VSC OFF SWITCH


    1. Remove the VSC OFF switch Click here.

    2. Inspect the VSC OFF switch Click here.

  8. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY - VSC OFF SWITCH)


    1. Disconnect the skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) connector.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A5-12 (CSW1) - D35-5 Always Below 1 Ω
      A5-12 (CSW1) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      D35-8 - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

  9. INSPECT TRACK SWITCH


    1. Remove the TRACK switch Click here.

  10. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY - TRACK SWITCH)


    1. Disconnect the skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) connector.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A5-9 (CSW2) - D35-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      A5-9 (CSW2) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      D35-8 - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
