REAR DOOR WINDOW FRAME MOULDING REMOVAL

Tech Tips


  • Use the same procedure for the RH and LH sides.

  • The procedure listed below is for the LH side.


  1. PRECAUTION

    Note

    After turning the power switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the auxiliary battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the auxiliary battery terminal notice before proceeding with work Click here.

  2. REMOVE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT FLOOR MAT


    1. Remove the luggage compartment floor mat.

  3. REMOVE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT TRIM COVER LH


    1. Remove the luggage compartment trim cover LH.

  4. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM AUXILIARY BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL

    Note

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Click here.

  5. REMOVE REAR POWER WINDOW REGULATOR SWITCH ASSEMBLY WITH REAR DOOR ARMREST BASE PANEL


    1. A01FVID

      Detach the 2 clips and 5 claws.

    2. Disconnect the connector and remove the rear power window regulator switch assembly with rear door armrest base panel.

  6. REMOVE REAR DOOR INSIDE HANDLE BEZEL PLUG LH

      Detach the 3 claws and remove the rear door inside handle bezel plug.

  7. REMOVE REAR DOOR HOLE COVER


    1. Remove the rear door hole cover.

  8. REMOVE REAR DOOR TRIM BOARD SUB-ASSEMBLY LH


    1. A01FTBQ

      Remove the 3 screws.

    2. Detach the 8 clips.

    3. A01FVC3E01

      Detach the reference boss in the direction indicated by the arrow in the illustration.

    4. Using a screwdriver, detach the 3 claws and remove the rear door trim board.

      Tech Tips

      Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

    5. Disconnect each connector.

      Disconnect the rear door lock remote control cable and rear door inside locking cable.

  9. REMOVE REAR DOOR NO. 1 STIFFENER CUSHION

      Remove the rear door No. 1 stiffener cushion.

  10. REMOVE REAR DOOR TRIM COVER LH


    1. A01FRYE

      Detach the 6 clips and remove the rear door trim cover.

  11. REMOVE REAR DOOR INNER GLASS WEATHERSTRIP LH


    1. A01FQGX

      Remove the rear door inner glass weatherstrip.

  12. REMOVE REAR SIDE CURTAIN ASSEMBLY LH (w/ Rear Sunshade)


    1. A01FS0I

      Detach the 4 claws and 2 clips and remove the rear side curtain.

  13. REMOVE REAR DOOR FRAME GARNISH LH


    1. A01FTUZ

      Detach the 2 clips and remove the rear door frame garnish.

  14. REMOVE REAR DOOR ARMREST SET BRACKET LH


    1. A01FSGD

      Remove the 2 screws and rear door armrest set bracket.

  15. REMOVE REAR NO. 2 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY


    1. A01FRO1

      Disconnect the connector.

    2. Remove the screw.

    3. Detach the clamp and remove the rear No. 2 speaker assembly.

      Note

      Do not touch the cone of the speaker.

  16. REMOVE REAR DOOR SERVICE HOLE COVER LH


    1. A01FV40

      Pull out the rear door lock remote control cable and rear door inside locking cable from the rear door service hole cover, and then remove the rear door service hole cover.

      Tech Tips

      Remove any remaining butyl tape from the rear door panel.

  17. REMOVE REAR DOOR REAR LOWER WINDOW FRAME SUB-ASSEMBLY LH


    1. Temporarily install the rear power window regulator switch assembly with rear door armrest base panel.

    2. Connect the cable to the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.

    3. Move the rear door window regulator so that the rear door glass channel can be seen.

    4. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.

      Note

      When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Click here.

    5. Remove the rear power window regulator switch assembly with rear door armrest base panel.

      Partially remove the rear door glass run as shown in the illustration.

    7. A01FVIR

      Remove the screw and 2 bolts.

    8. A01FS87

      Remove the rear door rear lower window frame together with the rear door glass run as shown in the illustration.

    9. A01FPXS

      Remove the rear door rear lower window frame from the rear door glass run.

  18. REMOVE REAR DOOR QUARTER WINDOW GLASS LH


    1. A01FSKO

      Remove the rear door quarter window glass.

  19. REMOVE REAR DOOR GLASS SUB-ASSEMBLY LH


    1. A01FQQV

      Remove the rear door glass from the rear door window regulator as shown in the illustration.

      Note

      Do not damage the door glass.

  20. REMOVE REAR DOOR GLASS RUN LH


    1. Remove the front side of the rear door glass run.

  21. REMOVE REAR DOOR BELT MOULDING ASSEMBLY LH


    1. A01FQVSE01

      Put protective tape around the rear door belt moulding.

    2. Detach the 4 claws and remove the rear door belt moulding.

  22. REMOVE REAR DOOR WEATHERSTRIP LH


    1. A01FT7T

      Remove the upper part of the rear door weatherstrip so that the moulding can be removed.

  23. REMOVE REAR DOOR FRONT BELT MOULDING END COVER LH

    Tech Tips

    When removing the rear door front belt moulding end cover, heat the rear door panel and rear door front belt moulding end cover using a heat light.

    Rear Door Front Belt Moulding End Cover 20 to 30°C (68 to 86°F)

    Note

    Do not heat the rear door panel or rear door front belt moulding end cover excessively.

      Put protective tape around the rear door front belt moulding end cover.

    2. Using a moulding remover, detach the 2 clips.

    3. Detach the double-sided tape to remove the rear door front belt moulding end cover.

  24. REMOVE REAR DOOR FRONT WINDOW FRAME MOULDING LH

    Tech Tips

    When removing the rear door front window frame moulding, heat the rear door panel and rear door front window frame moulding using a heat light.

    Rear Door Panel 40 to 60°C (104 to 140°F)
    Rear Door Front Window Frame Moulding 20 to 30°C (68 to 86°F)

    Note

    Do not heat the rear door panel or rear door front window frame moulding excessively.

      Put protective tape around the rear door front window frame moulding.

    2. Using a moulding remover, detach the clip.

    3. Detach the double-sided tape and butyl tape, and then detach the guide and remove the rear door front window frame moulding.

  25. REMOVE REAR DOOR WINDOW FRAME MOULDING SUB-ASSEMBLY LH


    1. Put a 4 mm (0.157 in.) drill bit into a drill.

    2. Wind tape around the drill bit approximately 5 mm (0.197 in.) from the tip of the drill as shown in the illustration.

      Tech Tips

      Tape the 4 mm (0.157 in.) drill bit to prevent the drill bit from going too deep.

    3. Lightly press the drill against the 8 rivets and drill off the flanges of the 8 rivets.

      CAUTION:

      Be careful of the drilled rivet as it may become hot.

      Note


      • Pressing the drill too firmly will cause the rivet to turn and result in the rivet not being drilled through.

      • Do not pry the rivet with the drill because this may cause damage to the installation holes of the rivet or the drill bit.

    4. Detach the 2 clips and remove the rear door window frame moulding.

    5. Using a vacuum cleaner, remove the rivet fragments and shavings from the drilled area.
