BRAKE PEDAL REMOVAL

Tech Tips


  • Use the same procedure for the RHD and LHD vehicles.

  • The procedure listed below is for the LHD vehicles.


  1. PRECAUTION

    Note

    After turning the power switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the auxiliary battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the auxiliary battery terminal notice before proceeding with work Click here.

  2. REMOVE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT FLOOR MAT


    1. Remove the luggage compartment floor mat.

  3. REMOVE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT TRIM COVER LH


    1. Remove the luggage compartment trim cover LH.

  4. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM AUXILIARY BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL

    CAUTION:

    Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the auxiliary battery negative (-) terminal to disable the SRS system.

    Note

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Click here.

  5. REMOVE LOWER NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL AIRBAG ASSEMBLY

  6. REMOVE STOP LIGHT SWITCH ASSEMBLY

      Disconnect the 2 connectors.

    2. Detach the 2 clamps from the brake pedal support.

    3. Remove the stop light switch Click here.

  7. REMOVE BRAKE PEDAL RETURN SPRING


    1. Remove the brake pedal return spring from the brake pedal support.

  8. DISCONNECT PUSH ROD PIN


    1. Remove the clip and push rod pin from the push rod clevis.

  9. REMOVE BRAKE PEDAL SUPPORT ASSEMBLY

      Remove the brake pedal support reinforcement set bolt.

    2. Remove the 4 nuts from the brake pedal support assembly.

    3. Remove the brake master cylinder sub-assembly Click here.

    4. Remove the brake pedal support assembly.

  10. REMOVE BRAKE PEDAL STROKE SENSOR ASSEMBLY


    1. Disconnect the sensor connector.

    2. Remove the 2 nuts and sensor.

      Note

      Do not drop the sensor. If the sensor has been dropped replace the sensor with a new one.

  11. REMOVE BRAKE PEDAL PAD


    1. Remove the brake pedal pad from the brake pedal support assembly.
