BRAKE BOOSTER REMOVAL

Tech Tips


  • Use the same procedure for RHD and LHD vehicles.

  • The procedure listed below is for LHD vehicles.

Note

Make sure to release the vacuum from the brake booster before removing the master cylinder from the brake booster.


  1. PRECAUTION

    Note

    After turning the engine switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal notice before proceeding with work Click here.

  2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

    CAUTION:

    Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

    Note

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Click here.

  3. DRAIN BRAKE FLUID

    Note

    Wash off brake fluid immediately if it comes in contact with any painted surface.

  4. REMOVE LOWER NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL AIRBAG ASSEMBLY

  5. REMOVE BRAKE PEDAL RETURN SPRING


    1. Remove the brake pedal return spring from the brake pedal support.

  6. DISCONNECT PUSH ROD PIN


    1. Remove the clip and push rod pin from the push rod clevis.

  7. DISCONNECT BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER PUSH ROD CLEVIS


    1. Loosen the brake master cylinder push rod clevis lock nut.

    2. Disconnect the push rod clevis.

  8. REMOVE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER SUB-ASSEMBLY

  9. REMOVE BRAKE ACTUATOR WITH BRACKET

  10. REMOVE BRAKE BOOSTER ASSEMBLY


    1. Slide the clip and disconnect the vacuum hose.

      Remove the 4 nuts and brake booster assembly.

      Note

      Do not damage the brake tubes.

  11. REMOVE BRAKE BOOSTER GASKET

  12. REMOVE BRAKE VACUUM CHECK VALVE ASSEMBLY


    1. Remove the brake vacuum check valve assembly from the brake booster assembly.

  13. REMOVE CHECK VALVE GROMMET


    1. Remove the check valve grommet from the brake booster assembly.

  14. REMOVE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER PUSH ROD CLEVIS


    1. Loosen the lock nut and remove the push rod clevis.
