AIR CONDITIONING UNIT REMOVAL

Tech Tips


  • Use the same procedure for RHD and LHD vehicles.

  • The procedure listed below is for LHD vehicles.


  1. REMOVE ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER

      Remove the 4 clips and engine room side cover.

  2. REMOVE COOL AIR INTAKE DUCT SEAL

      Remove the 7 clips and cool air intake duct seal.

  3. REMOVE V-BANK COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY

  4. RECOVER REFRIGERANT FROM REFRIGERATION SYSTEM

  5. DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT

  6. PRECAUTION

    Note

    After turning the engine switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal notice before proceeding with work Click here.

  7. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

    CAUTION:

    Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

    Note

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Click here.

  8. REMOVE FRONT WIPER MOTOR

  9. DISCONNECT AIR CONDITIONING TUBE ASSEMBLY

      Remove the bolt.

    2. Detach the plate as shown in the illustration.

      *a Disconnect tube by hand

      Disconnect the air conditioning tube assembly.

      Note


      • Do not use a screwdriver or similar tool to disconnect the suction hose sub-assembly.

      • Seal the openings of the disconnected parts using vinyl tape to prevent moisture and foreign matter from entering.

    4. Remove the 2 O-rings from the air conditioning tube assembly.

  10. DISCONNECT HEATER WATER OUTLET HOSE A

    1. Using pliers, grip the claws of the clip and slide the clip.

    2. Disconnect the heater water outlet hose A.

  11. DISCONNECT HEATER WATER INLET HOSE A

    1. Using pliers, grip the claws of the clip and slide the clip.

    2. Disconnect the heater water inlet hose A.

  12. REMOVE FRONT SEAT ASSEMBLY

  13. REMOVE REAR SEAT ASSEMBLY

  14. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD SUB-ASSEMBLY

  15. REMOVE AIR DUCT PLUG

    Tech Tips

    Use the same procedure for both air duct plug.

      Detach the 4 claws and remove the air duct plug.

  16. REMOVE REAR NO. 5 AIR DUCT

    Tech Tips

    Use the same procedure for both rear No. 5 air duct.

      Remove the 2 screws and rear No. 5 air duct.

  17. REMOVE FRONT FLOOR CARPET ASSEMBLY

    Tech Tips

    It is not necessary to fully remove the floor carpet. Partially remove it so that the instrument panel reinforcement assembly with air conditioning unit assembly can be removed in a later step.

  18. REMOVE REAR NO. 4 AIR DUCT

    1. Remove the nut or clip.

      Tech Tips

      The rear No. 4 air duct is installed with a nut (90179-06097) or clip (90467-06124).

    2. Detach the 4 claws and remove the rear No. 4 air duct.

  19. REMOVE REAR NO. 2 AIR DUCT


    1. Remove the nut or clip.

      Tech Tips

      The rear No. 2 air duct is installed with a nut (90179-06097) or clip (90467-06124).

    2. Detach the 4 claws and remove the rear No. 2 air duct.

  20. REMOVE REAR NO. 1 AIR DUCT


    1. Detach the clamp.

      Remove the rear No. 1 air duct.

  21. REMOVE REAR NO. 3 AIR DUCT


    1. Detach the clamp.

    2. Remove the rear No. 3 air duct.

  22. REMOVE REAR NO. 1 AIR DUCT (for AWD)

      Remove the nut or clip.

      Tech Tips

      The rear No. 1 air duct is installed with a nut (90179-06097) or clip (90467-05145).

    2. Remove the rear No. 1 air duct.

  23. REMOVE REAR NO. 2 AIR DUCT (for AWD)

      Remove the rear No. 2 air duct.

  24. REMOVE NO. 1 CONSOLE BOX DUCT

      Remove the 2 clips and No. 1 console box duct.

  25. REMOVE NO. 1 AIR DUCT SUB-ASSEMBLY

    1. Remove the clip and No. 1 air duct sub-assembly.

  26. REMOVE NO. 2 AIR DUCT SUB-ASSEMBLY

    1. Remove the screw and No. 2 air duct sub-assembly.

  27. REMOVE STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY

  28. REMOVE LOWER DEFROSTER NOZZLE ASSEMBLY

      Detach the 3 claws and remove the lower defroster nozzle assembly.

  29. REMOVE AIR HOSE

      Remove the air hose.

  30. REMOVE AIR CONDITIONING AMPLIFIER ASSEMBLY

  31. REMOVE QUICK HEATER ASSEMBLY (w/ PTC Heater)

    1. Remove the 2 screws and quick heater assembly.

      Tech Tips

      If the claws of the quick heater assembly are damaged, install the quick heater assembly with 2 screws (90159-50327).

  32. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL REINFORCEMENT ASSEMBLY WITH AIR CONDITIONING UNIT ASSEMBLY


    1. Remove the 2 grommets.

      Remove the 2 bolts.

    3. Detach the clamps and disconnect the connectors.

    4. Remove the bolts and nuts.

      Remove the nut.

    6. for 2WD:


      1. Remove the 6 caps.

      2. Remove the 10 bolts.

      3. Using a 12 mm hexagon wrench, loosen the 3 collars.

      4. Remove the instrument panel reinforcement assembly with air conditioning unit assembly.

    7. for AWD:


      1. Remove the 6 caps.

      2. Remove the 11 bolts.

      3. Using a 12 mm hexagon wrench, loosen the 3 collars.

      4. Remove the instrument panel reinforcement assembly with air conditioning unit assembly.
