C1380 Stop Light Control Relay Malfunction

DESCRIPTION

Upon receiving the hill-start assist control operating signal from the skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly), the relay contact turns on and the stop light comes on.

One of the following is detected:


  1. STP is ON and STP2 is OFF for 2 seconds or more when the voltage at terminal IG1 is 9.5 V or higher and the stop light blink output (EXO) is OFF.

  2. STP is OFF and STP2 is OFF for 2 seconds or more when the voltage at terminal IG1 is 9.5 V or higher, STPO is ON and EXO is OFF.

  3. STP is OFF and STP2 is ON for 2 seconds or more when the voltage at terminal IG1 is 9.5 V or higher, STPO is OFF and EXO is OFF.


  • P/I-B NO.1 fuse

  • Harness or connector

  • Skid control ECU (Brake actuator assembly)

  • No. 2 integration relay

  • When replacing the brake actuator assembly, perform zero point calibration and store system information Click here.

  • Inspect the fuses for circuits related to this system before performing the following inspection procedure.

PROCEDURE


  1. CHECK STOP LIGHT OPERATION


    1. Check that the stop lights come on when the brake pedal is depressed, and go off when the brake pedal is released.

  2. READ VALUE USING GTS (STOP LIGHT SW)


    1. Turn the engine switch off.

    2. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    3. Start the engine.

    4. Turn the GTS on.

    5. Enter the following menus: Chassis / ABS/VSC/TRC / Data List.

    6. Check that the stop light switch condition observed on the GTS changes according to brake pedal operation.

  3. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING GTS (STOP LIGHT RELAY)


    1. Turn the engine switch off.

    2. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    3. Start the engine.

    4. Turn the GTS on.

    5. Enter the following menus: Chassis / ABS/VSC/TRC / Active Test.

    6. While performing the Active Test, check the illumination condition of the stop lights and "Stop Light Relay Output" in the Data List.

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (STP2 TERMINAL)


    1. Turn the engine switch off.

    2. Make sure that there is no looseness at the locking part and the connecting part of the connector.

  5. RECONFIRM DTC


    1. Reconnect the skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) connector.

    4. Start the engine.

    2. Disconnect the 2A No. 2 integration relay connector.

    3. Disconnect the A13 skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) connector.

    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
