INSPECTION PROCEDURE

Note

  • Before replacing the certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly), refer to the Service Bulletin.

  • The engine immobiliser system (w/ Smart Entry and Start System) uses the CAN communication system. Inspect the communication function by following How to Proceed with Troubleshooting Click here. Troubleshoot the engine immobiliser system (w/ Smart Entry and Start System) after confirming that the communication systems are functioning properly.

PROCEDURE

  1. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING INTELLIGENT TESTER (SECURITY INDICATOR LIGHT)

    1. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).

    3. Turn the intelligent tester on.

    4. Enter the following menus: Body / Entry & Start / Active Test.

    5. Perform the Active Test according to the display on the intelligent tester.

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SECURITY INDICATOR LIGHT (HEATER CONTROL SWITCH BOARD) - CERTIFICATION ECU (SMART KEY ECU ASSEMBLY))

    1. Disconnect the I78 security indicator light (heater control switch board) connector.

    2. Disconnect the I56 certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      I56-18 (IND)- I78-1 (LP) Always Below 1 Ω
I56-18 (IND) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      I78-6 (GND) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
