METER / GAUGE SYSTEM Fuel Gauge Malfunction

DESCRIPTION

The combination meter assembly controls the fuel receiver gauge in accordance with the resistance of the fuel sender gauge, which varies depending on the amount of fuel remaining in the fuel tank.

PROCEDURE


  1. CONFIRM DTC OUTPUT


    1. Check DTC Click here.

  2. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING GTS (FUEL METER OPERATION)


    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    3. Turn the GTS on.

    4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Combination Meter / Active Test.

    5. Check the operation by referring to the table below.

  3. INSPECT FUEL SENDER GAUGE ASSEMBLY


    1. Remove the fuel sender gauge assembly.


    2. Inspect the fuel sender gauge assembly.

    3. Reinstall the fuel sender gauge assembly.

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY - FUEL SENDER GAUGE ASSEMBLY)


    1. Disconnect the F1 combination meter assembly connector.

    2. Disconnect the K17 fuel sender gauge assembly connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance (Check for Open)
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F1-16(L) - K17-2(FS) Always Below 1 Ω
      F1-15(E) - K17-3(FE) Always Below 1 Ω
      F1-21(ET) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      Standard Resistance (Check for Short)

      F1-16(L) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      F1-15(E) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
