STOP AND START SYSTEM Stop and Start Priority Control System

DESCRIPTION

The stop and start control system has two control modes, normal mode (NORMAL) and stop and start prioritized mode (S&S Prioritized).

When the stop and start control is activated, it is possible to switch between different modes by pressing and holding the telltale light assembly (stop and start cancel switch assembly).

When the mode is switched by pressing and holding the telltale light assembly (stop and start cancel switch assembly), the signal is transmitted from the telltale light assembly (stop and start cancel switch assembly) to the engine stop and start computer directly. The engine stop and start computer performs the control based on the selected mode in synchronization with the air conditioning amplifier assembly.

If the stop and start prioritized mode (S&S Prioritized) is selected, the activation period of stop and start control when the air conditioning is on becomes longer than the normal mode (NORMAL) to improve fuel efficiency.

Note


  • Before replacing the engine stop and start ECU, read the number of starter operations and write it into a new engine stop and start ECU Click here.

  • After replacing the engine stop and start ECU or air conditioning amplifier assembly, reset and perform learning of the air conditioning information in the engine stop and start ECU Click here.

  • After replacing the engine stop and start ECU or airbag sensor assembly, perform deceleration sensor zero point clear and calibration Click here.

Tech Tips


  • If the stop and start prioritized mode (S&S Prioritized) is selected, the performance of air conditioning system is affected. If there are complaints from a customer about poor performance of air conditioning system, check the selected mode of the stop and start control system Click here.

  • Depending on the vehicle condition, the activation period of stop and start control may not change even when the stop and start prioritized mode (S&S Prioritized) is selected.

  • Before replacing the ECU, make a note of the idling stop time in the current normal mode (NORMAL) and in the stop and start prioritized mode (S&S Prioritized). Also, make a note of the environmental conditions including ambient temperature.

PROCEDURE


  1. CHECK CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM


    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    3. Turn the GTS on.

    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Stop and Start / Trouble Codes.

    5. Read the DTCs.

  2. READ VALUE USING GTS (CANCEL SWITCH)


    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    3. Turn the GTS on.

    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Stop and Start / Data List.

    5. Check the values by referring to the table below.

  4. REPLACE AIR CONDITIONER AMPLIFIER ASSEMBLY


    1. Replace the air conditioner amplifier assembly with a new or known good one. Click here

      Tech Tips

      If the stop and start prioritized mode (S&S Prioritized) is selected, engine stop time becomes longer than the normal mode (NORMAL).
