B2799 Engine Immobiliser System Malfunction

DESCRIPTION

This DTC is stored when one of the following occurs: 1) the ECM detects an error in its own communication with the ID code box; 2) the ECM detects an error in the communication lines; or 3) the ECU communication ID between the ID code box and ECM is different and an engine start is attempted.

Tech Tips

Before troubleshooting this DTC, make sure that no certification ECU DTCs are present. If present, troubleshoot the certification ECU DTCs first.

Note


  • If the ID code box is replaced, register the ECU code and ECU communication ID.

  • If the ECM is replaced, register the ECU communication ID.

  1. RE-REGISTER ECU COMMUNICATION ID


    1. Re-register the ECU communication ID.

    1. Clear the DTCs Click here.

  3. CHECK CONNECTOR CONNECTION CONDITION


    1. Turn the engine switch off.

    2. Check that the connectors are properly connected to the ECD or ECM and the ID code box.

      OK
      Connectors are properly connected.

    NG
    OK
  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ID CODE BOX - ECM)


    1. Disconnect the ID code box connector.

    2. Disconnect the ECM connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      2. for 1KR-FE

  5. REPLACE ECM


    1. Replace the ECM.
