DESCRIPTION

The ECM communicates with the generator assembly via LIN communication. If a LIN communication error is detected, the ECM stores this DTC.

  1. CHECK CHARGING SYSTEM


    1. Check the charging system.

    REPAIR OR REPLACE CHARGING SYSTEM

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ECM - GENERATOR ASSEMBLY)


    1. Disconnect the F66 ECM connector.

    2. Disconnect the F71 generator assembly connector.

    3. Disconnect the A93 battery state sensor assembly connector.

    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance (Check for Open)
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A93-1 (LIN) or F71-2 (LIN) - F66-61 (LIN) Always Below 1 Ω
      Standard Resistance (Check for Short)
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A93-1 (LIN), F71-2 (LIN) or F66-61 (LIN) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

  3. CLEAR DTCS


    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).

    3. Turn the GTS on.

    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Trouble Codes.

    5. Check for DTCs, and then write them down.


      Powertrain > Engine > Trouble Codes

    6. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Trouble Codes.

    7. Clear the DTCs.


      Powertrain > Engine > Clear DTCs

    8. Turn the engine switch off and wait 30 seconds.

  4. CHECK FOR DTCS


    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Start the engine.

    3. Allow the engine to idle for approximately 17 minutes or more.

    4. Turn the GTS on.

    5. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Trouble Codes.

    6. Check for DTCs.


      Powertrain > Engine > Trouble Codes
      Result
      Result Proceed to
      Only DTC P161A87 is output. A
      DTC P161A87 and P162B87 are output. B
      DTCs are not output. C

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ECM - GENERATOR ASSEMBLY)


    1. Disconnect the F66 ECM connector.

    2. Disconnect the F71 generator assembly connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance (Check for Open)
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F71-2 (LIN) - F66-61 (LIN) Always Below 1 Ω
      Standard Resistance (Check for Short)
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F71-2 (LIN) or F66-61 (LIN) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
