EXHAUST MANIFOLD REMOVAL

PROCEDURE


  1. PRECAUTION (for RHD)

    Note

    After turning the engine switch off, waiting time maybe required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal notices before proceeding with work.

  2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL (for RHD)

    Note

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected.

  3. DISCONNECT NO. 1 ENGINE ROOM RELAY BLOCK AND NO. 1 JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY (for RHD)


    1. Remove the No. 1 engine room relay block and No. 1 junction block assembly cover.

      Disengage the wire harness clamp from the vehicle body.

    3. Remove the nut.

    4. Disengage the 2 claws and disconnect the No. 4 engine wire holder from the No. 1 engine room relay block and No. 1 junction block assembly.

      Remove the 2 bolts and nut, separate the No. 1 engine room relay block and No. 1 junction block assembly from the vehicle body.

  4. REMOVE AIR FUEL RATIO SENSOR

  5. REMOVE FRONT SUSPENSION MEMBER BRACE

  6. REMOVE NO. 2 ENGINE UNDER COVER (w/ No. 2 Engine Under Cover)

  7. REMOVE FRONT CENTER FLOOR COVER LH (for Full Cover Type)

  8. REMOVE FRONT CENTER FLOOR COVER RH (for Full Cover Type)

  9. REMOVE FRONT CENTER FLOOR BRACE

  10. DISCONNECT HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR CONNECTOR

  11. REMOVE FRONT EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY (TWC: Rear Catalyst)


    1. for Bank 1:


      1. B00776G

        Disconnect the heated oxygen sensor grommet from the vehicle body.

    2. for Bank 2:


      1. B00777V

        Disconnect the heated oxygen sensor grommet from the vehicle body.

    3. B0072SY

      Remove the 4 bolts and 4 nuts to disconnect the front exhaust pipe assembly (TWC: Rear Catalyst).

    4. B0077OX

      Remove the 4 bolts, 4 compression springs and front exhaust pipe assembly (TWC: Rear Catalyst).

    5. Remove the 4 exhaust pipe gaskets from the front exhaust pipe assembly (TWC: Rear Catalyst).

  12. REMOVE NO. 1 EXHAUST PIPE SUPPORT BRACKET SUB-ASSEMBLY

      Remove the 2 bolts and No. 1 exhaust pipe support bracket sub-assembly from the automatic transmission with transfer assembly.

  13. REMOVE NO. 2 ENGINE OIL LEVEL DIPSTICK GUIDE


    1. B00772E

      Remove the engine oil level dipstick.

    2. Remove the bolt and No. 2 engine oil level dipstick guide from the camshaft housing sub-assembly RH.

    3. Remove the O-ring from the No. 2 engine oil level dipstick guide.

  14. REMOVE EXHAUST MANIFOLD SUB-ASSEMBLY RH (TWC: Front Catalyst)

      Using a 12 mm deep socket wrench, remove the 6 nuts and exhaust manifold sub-assembly RH (TWC: Front Catalyst).

      Remove the exhaust manifold to head gasket from the cylinder head sub-assembly.

  15. REMOVE EXHAUST MANIFOLD SUB-ASSEMBLY LH (TWC: Front Catalyst)

      Using a 12 mm deep socket wrench, remove the 6 nuts and exhaust manifold sub-assembly LH (TWC: Front Catalyst).

      Remove the exhaust manifold to head gasket LH from the cylinder head sub-assembly.
