INSPECTION PROCEDURE

Note


  • Inspect the fuses for circuits related to this system before performing the following inspection procedure.

  • If the battery voltage becomes low, rear window defogger system operation is canceled to prioritize supplying power to the power steering system.

  • The window defogger system uses the AVC-LAN and LIN communication. First, confirm that there are no malfunctions in the AVC-LAN and LIN communication lines. Refer to How to Proceed with Troubleshooting Click here.*1

  • The window defogger system uses the CAN communication. First, confirm that there is no malfunction in the CAN communication line. Refer to How to Proceed with Troubleshooting Click here.*2

PROCEDURE


  1. CHECK AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM


    1. Check the air conditioning system.

      Tech Tips

      Both the window defogger system operation signal and air conditioning system operation signal are transmitted to the air conditioning amplifier assembly through same communication line.

      OK
      The air conditioning system operates normally.

    NG
    OK
  2. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING GTS


    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).

    3. Turn the GTS on.

    4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Air Conditioner / Active Test.

    5. Perform the Active Test according to the display on the GTS.

  3. REPLACE AIR CONDITIONING AMPLIFIER ASSEMBLY

  4. CHECK ENGINE ROOM JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY


    1. Using a voltmeter, check the signal reading of the engine room junction block assembly Click here.

      Output signal reading is normal.

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ENGINE ROOM RELAY BLOCK ASSEMBLY - POWER SOURCE AND BODY GROUND)


    1. Remove the engine room junction block assembly from the engine room relay block and junction block assembly.

    1. Disconnect the H54 air conditioning amplifier assembly connector.

    2. Disconnect the 1F engine room junction block assembly connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      H54-38 (RDFG) - 1F-4 (DEFS) Always Below 1 Ω
      1F-4 (DEFS) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

  7. CHECK ENGINE ROOM JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY


    1. Reconnect the 1F engine room junction block assembly connector.

    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

    1. Disconnect the P18 back window glass (rear window defogger wire) battery side connector.

    2. Disconnect the 1N engine room junction block assembly connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

    1. Disconnect the R1 back window glass (rear window defogger wire) ground side connector.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
