TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE REMOVAL

CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT

The necessary procedures (adjustment, calibration, initialization, or registration) that must be performed after parts are removed, installed, or replaced during the transmission control cable assembly removal/installation are shown below.

    When the engine is hot, do not touch high-temperature areas such as the engine or exhaust pipe.

  • Touching high-temperature areas such as the engine and exhaust pipe could result in burns.

PROCEDURE


  1. SECURE VEHICLE


    1. Fully apply the parking brake and chock a wheel.

      CAUTION:


      • A005QBY

        Make sure to apply the parking brake and chock a wheel before performing this procedure.

      • If the vehicle is not secure and the shift lever is moved to neutral, the vehicle may suddenly move, possibly resulting in an accident or serious injury.

  2. PRECAUTION

    Note

    After turning the ignition switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal notices before proceeding with work.

  3. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected.

  4. REMOVE BATTERY

  5. REMOVE REAR CONSOLE BOX ASSEMBLY

  7. REMOVE NO. 1 AIR CLEANER INLET

  8. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CAP SUB-ASSEMBLY

  14. REMOVE FRONT NO. 1 FLOOR HEAT INSULATOR

      Remove 3 nuts and front No. 1 floor heat insulator from the vehicle body.

  15. REMOVE TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE ASSEMBLY


    1. A001WRX

      Remove the clip to disconnect the transmission control select cable from the floor shift shift lever assembly.

    2. A001UFN

      Disconnect the transmission control shift cable from the floor shift shift lever assembly.

    3. A001X2H

      Disengage the 2 claws and disconnect the transmission control cable assembly from the floor shift lever assembly.

    4. A005OOUN01

      Remove the 2 clips A to disconnect the transmission control cable assembly from the manual transaxle assembly.

    5. Remove the 2 clips B to disconnect the transmission control cable assembly from the control cable bracket assembly.

      Remove the nut.

    7. Disengage the guide and disconnect the transmission control cable assembly from the vehicle body.

      Remove the 2 nuts and transmission control cable assembly from the vehicle body.
