MANUAL TRANSAXLE SYSTEM, Diagnostic DTC:P071531

DTC Code DTC Name
P071531 Input/Turbine Speed Sensor "A" No Signal

DESCRIPTION

The transmission revolution sensor is mounted on the transaxle. The ECM calculates the transaxle input shaft speed using the sensor. When the input shaft rotates, the sensor generates a pulse signal and sends the signal to the ECM. The ECM calculates the input shaft speed based on the signal. If the input shaft speed falls below a threshold despite the engine running, the ECM interprets this as a malfunction in the transmission revolution sensor circuit. The ECM stores this DTC.

PROCEDURE

  1. READ VALUE USING GTS (ENGINE SPEED AND NIM SENSOR SPEED)

    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    3. Turn the GTS on.

    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Data List

Powertrain > Engine > Data List
      Tester Display
      Engine Speed
    5. According to the display on the GTS, read the Data List.

Powertrain > Engine > Data List
Tester Display Measurement Item Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note
      Engine Speed Engine speed

      Min.: 0 rpm

      Max.: 16383 rpm

600 to 700 rpm: Idling (shift lever in neutral, engine warmed up and A/C off) When the crankshaft position sensor is malfunctioning, "Engine Speed" is approximately 0 rpm or varies greatly from the actual engine speed.
    6. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Transmission / Data List

Powertrain > Transmission > Data List
      Tester Display
      NIM Sensor Speed
    7. According to the display on the GTS, read the Data List.
