Tech Tips

When DTC P007A15 is stored, the ECM enters fail-safe mode. During fail-safe mode, the intake air temperature is estimated to be 45°C (113°F) by the ECM. Fail-safe mode continues until a pass condition is detected.

Tech Tips

When this DTC is output, check the intake air temperature (for intake manifold) in the Data List. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Data List / All Data / Intake Air Temperature B1S1 (Turbo).

If the Data List values is normal it may be due to a temporary recovery from the malfunction condition. Check for intermittent problems.

MONITOR DESCRIPTION

The ECM monitors the sensor voltage and uses this value to calculate the intake air temperature. When the intake air temperature sensor output voltage deviates from the normal operating range, the ECM interprets this as a malfunction in the intake air temperature sensor circuit and stores this DTC.

Example:

If the intake air temperature sensor output voltage is higher than 4.9 V for 3 seconds or more, the ECM store this DTC.

CONFIRMATION DRIVING PATTERN


  1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

  2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

  3. Turn the GTS on.

  4. Clear the DTCs (even if no DTCs are stored, perform the clear DTC procedure).

  5. Turn the ignition switch off and wait for at least 30 seconds.

  6. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

  7. Turn the GTS on.

  8. Wait 5 seconds or more.

  9. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Trouble Codes.

  10. Read the pending DTCs.

    Tech Tips


    • If a pending DTC is output, the system is malfunctioning.

    • If a pending DTC is not output, perform the following procedure.

  11. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Utility / All Readiness.

  12. Input the DTC: P007A15.

  13. Check the DTC judgment result.

    Tech Tips


    • If the judgment result shows NORMAL, the system is normal.

    • If the judgment result shows ABNORMAL, the system has a malfunction.

    • If the judgment result shows INCOMPLETE or N/A, perform the Confirmation Driving Pattern and check the DTC judgment result again.

Tech Tips

Read freeze frame data using the GTS. The ECM records vehicle and driving condition information as freeze frame data the moment a DTC is stored. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can help determine if the vehicle was moving or stationary, if the engine was warmed up or not, if the air fuel ratio was lean or rich, and other data from the time the malfunction occurred.

PROCEDURE


  1. READ VALUE USING GTS (CHECK FOR OPEN IN WIRE HARNESS)

    1. Disconnect the No. 2 turbo pressure sensor connector.

    2. Connect terminals 4 (THIM) and 2 (E2) of the No. 2 turbo pressure sensor connector on the wire harness side.

    3. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    4. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    5. Turn the GTS on.

    6. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Data List / All Data / Intake Air Temperature B1S1 (Turbo).

    7. According to the display on the GTS, read the Data List.

    1. Disconnect the C39 No. 2 turbo pressure sensor connector.

    2. Disconnect the C62 ECM connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
