FRONT AIRBAG SENSOR REMOVAL

CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT

The necessary procedures (adjustment, calibration, initialization, or registration) that must be performed after parts are removed, installed, or replaced during the front airbag sensor removal/installation are shown below.

PROCEDURE


  1. PRECAUTION

    Note

    After turning the power switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal notice before proceeding with work.

  2. REMOVE LUGGAGE TRIM SERVICE HOLE COVER

  3. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE AUXILIARY BATTERY TERMINAL


    1. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.

      CAUTION:


      • B006JL1

        Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

      • If the airbag deploys for any reason, it may cause a serious accident.

  4. REMOVE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY

  5. REMOVE FRONT AIRBAG SENSOR


    1. Check that the power switch is off.

    2. Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.

      CAUTION:


      • B006JL1

        Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

      • A0026EN

        If this procedure is performed without disconnecting the cable from negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal, the airbag may deploy even if an impact is applied only to the front airbag sensor. Therefore, make sure that the cable from negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal is disconnected before performing this procedure.

    3. A0026C1

      Disconnect the connector.


      1. Push down the housing lock and slide the CPA. (At this time, the connector cannot be disconnected yet.)

      2. Push the housing lock again and disconnect the connector.

        Note

        Do not push down the upper part of the CPA (A) shown in the illustration when disconnecting the airbag connector.

      3. After disconnecting the connector, check that the position of the housing lock is correct as shown in the illustration.

    4. A0026DP

      Remove the bolts.

      Note


      • Loosen the bolt while holding the front airbag sensor because the front airbag sensor guide is easily damaged.

      • If the front airbag sensor has been dropped, replace it with a new one.

    5. Disengage the guide to remove the front airbag sensor.
