FRONT SEAT SIDE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY REMOVAL

The necessary procedures (adjustment, calibration, initialization, or registration) that must be performed after parts are removed, installed, or replaced during the front seat airbag assembly removal/installation are shown below.

  • Use the same procedure for the RH and LH sides.

  • The procedure listed below is LH side.

PROCEDURE


  1. PRECAUTION

    Note

    After turning the power switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal notice before proceeding with work.

  2. REMOVE LUGGAGE TRIM SERVICE HOLE COVER

  3. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE AUXILIARY BATTERY TERMINAL


    1. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.

      CAUTION:


      • B006JL1

        Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

      • If the airbag deploys for any reason, it may cause a serious accident.

  4. MATTERS TO BE ATTENDED TO OVERHAUL FOR SEAT WITH SRS SIDE AIRBAG SYSTEM

    CAUTION:

    Be sure to read Precaution thoroughly before servicing.

    Note

    If the front seat side airbag was deployed, replace the front seat airbag assembly, separate type front seatback frame sub-assembly, separate type front seatback cover and separate type front seatback pad with the extent of the collision damage.

  5. REMOVE FRONT SEATBACK WITH COVER PAD

  6. REMOVE FRONT SEAT AIRBAG ASSEMBLY

      Disengage the clamps to separate the wire harness.

    2. A0026FS

      Remove the 2 nuts and front seat airbag assembly.

      Note


      • The nuts must not be reused.

      • Make sure that the separate type front seatback frame sub-assembly is not deformed. If it is, replace it with a new one
