Note
If the vehicle is subjected to a strong impact, the cells inside the FC stack assembly may become misaligned, which could result in a hydrogen leak, so follow the procedures here to perform an on-vehicle inspection of the FC stack assembly.
PROCEDURE
REMOVE STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY
REMOVE LOWER STEERING COLUMN COVER
SEPARATE METER HOOD SPACER
REMOVE UPPER STEERING COLUMN COVER
PLACE FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD
INSPECT SPIRAL CABLE WITH SENSOR SUB-ASSEMBLY

Check the check window shown in the illustration.
Note
When the following conditions cannot be checked via the check window with the front wheels facing straight ahead, there may be a malfunction in the spiral cable with sensor assembly. In this case, replace the spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly with a new one.
REMOVE SPIRAL CABLE WITH SENSOR SUB-ASSEMBLY
Note
Do not replace the spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly with the battery connected and the power switch on (IG).
Do not rotate the spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly with the battery connected and the power switch on (IG).
When rotating the spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly to check the operation of the sub-assembly (checking for abnormal noise, checking the Data List, etc.), make sure to perform the inspection with the steering wheel assembly installed.

Slide the slider to release the lock, and then disconnect the airbag connector.
Note
When disconnecting any airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.
Disconnect the connectors.

Disengage the claws to remove the spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly as shown in the illustration.
