REAR AXLE BEAM INSTALLATION

PROCEDURE


  1. INSTALL REAR AXLE CARRIER BUSH LH


    1. When reusing the rear axle beam assembly:


      1. A01MFQGC06
        *a Matchmark
        *b Alignment mark

        Align the alignment mark on a new rear axle carrier bushing LH with the matchmark on the rear axle beam assembly and temporarily install the rear axle carrier bushing LH to the rear axle beam assembly.

        Note

        Be sure to install the rear axle carrier bushing LH in the same direction as it was before removal. The rear axle carrier bushing LH has to be installed in a specific direction.

      When using a new rear axle beam assembly:


      1. Temporarily install a new rear axle carrier bushing LH as shown in the illustration.

        Note

        Be sure to install the rear axle carrier bushing as shown in the illustration. The rear axle carrier bushing has to be installed in a specific direction.

      *b Hold

      Using SST, install the rear axle carrier bushing LH to the rear axle beam assembly.

      Note


      • Do not damage the rubber portion when installing the rear axle carrier bushing.

      • Apply grease to the threads and tip of the SST center bolt before use.

  2. INSTALL REAR AXLE CARRIER BUSH RH

    Use the same procedure for the LH side.

  3. INSTALL REAR AXLE BEAM DYNAMIC DAMPER LH


    1. Install the rear axle beam dynamic damper LH to the rear axle beam assembly with the 2 nuts.

      Torque:
      40 N*m  { 408 kgf*cm, 30 ft.*lbf }
  4. INSTALL REAR AXLE BEAM DYNAMIC DAMPER

    Tech Tips

    Use the same procedure for the LH side.

  5. TEMPORARILY TIGHTEN REAR AXLE BEAM ASSEMBLY


    1. Slowly jack up the rear axle beam assembly with an engine lifter using 2 wooden blocks and 2 attachments or equivalent tools, and temporarily install the rear axle beam assembly to the vehicle with the 2 bolts (B).

      Note

      Make sure to secure the rear axle beam assembly to prevent it from dropping.

    2. Temporarily install the rear axle beam assembly to the rear shock absorber assemblies LH and RH with the 2 bolts (A) and 2 nuts.

      Note

      Because the nuts have their own stoppers, do not turn the nuts. Tighten the bolts with the nuts secured.

      Tech Tips

      Insert the bolts with the threaded end facing the outside of the vehicle.

  6. INSTALL REAR COIL SPRING UPPER INSULATOR LH

  12. INSTALL REAR HEIGHT CONTROL SENSOR SUB-ASSEMBLY

  13. TEMPORARILY TIGHTEN PARKING BRAKE ASSEMBLY LH


    1. Clean the installation surfaces of the parking brake assembly LH and rear axle beam assembly.

    2. Temporarily tighten the parking brake assembly LH to the rear axle beam assembly with the nut.

      Note

      Do not twist the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly when installing the parking brake assembly.

      Tech Tips

      Fully tighten the nut after installing the rear axle hub and bearing assembly LH.

    3. Install the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly to the rear axle beam assembly with the bolt.

      Torque:
      6.0 N*m  { 61 kgf*cm, 53 in.*lbf }
  14. TEMPORARILY TIGHTEN PARKING BRAKE ASSEMBLY RH

  17. FULLY TIGHTEN PARKING BRAKE ASSEMBLY LH


    1. Fully tighten the nut.

      Torque:
      140 N*m  { 1428 kgf*cm, 103 ft.*lbf }
  18. FULLY TIGHTEN PARKING BRAKE ASSEMBLY RH

    Tech Tips

    Use the same procedure for the LH side.

  19. INSTALL REAR NO. 4 BRAKE TUBE


    1. Install the rear No. 4 brake tube to the rear axle beam assembly.

      Torque:
      8.5 N*m  { 87 kgf*cm, 75 in.*lbf }
  20. INSTALL REAR NO. 3 BRAKE TUBE

    Tech Tips

    Use the same procedure for the rear No. 4 brake tube side.

  21. CONNECT REAR FLEXIBLE HOSE LH


    1. Install the rear flexible hose LH to the rear axle beam assembly.

      Torque:
      19 N*m  { 194 kgf*cm, 14 ft.*lbf }
    2. A01MFIPC02
      *a Torque Wrench Fulcrum Length

      Using a union nut wrench, connect the rear flexible hose LH to the rear No. 4 brake tube.

      Torque:
      Specified tightening torque
      15.2 N*m  { 155 kgf*cm, 11 ft.*lbf }

      Note


      • Do not kink or damage the brake lines.

      • Do not allow any foreign matter such as dirt or dust to enter the brake lines from the connecting parts.

      Tech Tips


      • Calculate the torque wrench reading when changing the fulcrum length of the torque wrench.

      • When using a union nut wrench (fulcrum length of 22 mm (0.866 in.)) + torque wrench (fulcrum length of 162 mm (6.38 in.)): 13.4 N*m (137 kgf*cm, 10 ft.*lbf)

  22. CONNECT REAR FLEXIBLE HOSE RH


    1. Install the rear flexible hose RH to the rear axle beam assembly with a new clip.

      Note


      • Install the clip as far as it will go.

      • Do not allow any foreign matter such as dirt or dust to enter the brake line from the connecting parts.

      *a Torque Wrench Fulcrum Length

      Using a union nut wrench, connect the rear flexible hose RH to the rear No. 3 brake tube.

      Torque:
      Specified tightening torque
      15.2 N*m  { 155 kgf*cm, 11 ft.*lbf }

      Note


      • Do not kink or damage the brake lines.

      • Do not allow any foreign matter such as dirt or dust to enter the brake lines from the connecting parts.

      Tech Tips


      • Calculate the torque wrench reading when changing the fulcrum length of the torque wrench.

  23. INSTALL REAR DISC (for LH Side)

  25. INSTALL PARKING BRAKE SHOE ADJUSTING HOLE PLUG


    1. Install the 2 parking brake shoe adjusting hole plugs to the rear disc.

  26. INSTALL REAR DISC BRAKE CYLINDER ASSEMBLY LH


    1. Install the rear disc brake cylinder assembly LH with the 2 bolts.

      Torque:
      72 N*m  { 734 kgf*cm, 53 ft.*lbf }
    2. Install the rear brake tube flexible hose to the rear axle beam assembly.

      Note


      • Install the clip as far as it will go.

      • Do not allow any foreign matter such as dirt or dust to enter the brake line from the connecting parts.

    3. A01MFYNC02
      *a Torque Wrench Fulcrum Length

      Using a union nut wrench, connect the rear brake tube flexible hose to the rear No. 4 brake tube.

      Torque:
      Specified tightening torque
      15.2 N*m  { 155 kgf*cm, 11 ft.*lbf }

      Note


      • Do not kink or damage the brake lines.

      • Do not allow any foreign matter such as dirt or dust to enter the brake lines from the connecting parts.

      Tech Tips


      • Calculate the torque wrench reading when changing the fulcrum length of the torque wrench.
