FRONT SEAT SIDE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY(for Manual Seat) REMOVAL

CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT

The necessary procedures (adjustment, calibration, initialization or registration) that must be performed after parts are removed, installed or replaced during the front seat airbag assembly removal/installation are shown below.

    Wear protective gloves. Sharp areas on the parts may injure your hands.

  • There is risk of injury.

  • If the front seat side airbag was deployed, replace the front seat airbag assembly, separate type front seatback frame sub-assembly, separate type front seatback cover and separate type front seatback pad with the necessary parts in accordance with the extent of the collision damage.

  • Replace any other damaged parts as necessary.

  • Use the same procedure for RHD and LHD vehicles.

  • The procedure listed below is for LHD vehicles.

  • Use the same procedure for the RH and LH sides.

  • The procedure listed below is for the LH side.

    Note

    After turning the ignition switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal notice before proceeding with work.

  2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

    CAUTION:


    • Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

    • If the airbag deploys for any reason, it may cause a serious accident.

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected.

    CAUTION:


    • When storing the front seat airbag assembly LH, keep the airbag deployment side facing upward.

    • If the airbag deploys for any reason, it may cause a serious accident.

      Detach the wire harness clamp.

      Note

      Be careful not to damage the airbag wire harness.

    2. Remove the 2 nuts and front seat airbag assembly LH.

      Note


      • The nuts must not be reused.

      • Make sure that the separate type front seatback frame sub-assembly is not deformed. If it is, replace it with a new one.
