FRONT LOWER SUSPENSION ARM(for 4WD and Pre-Runner) REMOVAL

The necessary procedures (adjustment, calibration, initialization, or registration) that must be performed after parts are removed, installed, or replaced during the front lower suspension arm removal/installation are shown below.

PROCEDURE


  1. REMOVE FRONT WHEEL

  2. REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER ASSEMBLY

  3. REMOVE NO. 2 ENGINE UNDER COVER

  4. REMOVE FRONT LOWER ARM SHAFT BOOT PROTECTOR LH (w/ Drive Shaft Boot Protector)

      Remove the 2 bolts and front lower arm shaft boot protector LH.

  5. DISCONNECT FRONT SHOCK ABSORBER WITH COIL SPRING

    1. Remove the nut and bolt.

      Tech Tips

      While fixing the nut in place, loosen and remove the bolt.

    2. Disconnect the front shock absorber with coil spring from the front lower No. 1 suspension arm sub-assembly LH.

  6. REMOVE FRONT LOWER NO. 1 SUSPENSION ARM SUB-ASSEMBLY LH

    1. Remove the 2 bolts, and disconnect the front lower ball joint attachment LH from the steering knuckle.

      *1 No. 1 Camber Adjusting Cam
      *2 No. 2 Camber Adjusting Cam
      *a Matchmark

      Place matchmarks on the No. 1 camber adjusting cam and vehicle frame, and No. 2 camber adjusting cam and vehicle frame.

    3. Remove the 2 nuts, No. 1 and No. 2 camber adjusting cams, No. 1 and No. 2 camber adjusting cam assemblies and front lower No. 1 suspension arm sub-assembly LH.

  7. REMOVE FRONT LOWER BALL JOINT ATTACHMENT LH


    1. Remove the cotter pin and nut.

      Using SST, remove the front lower ball joint attachment LH.

  8. REMOVE FRONT NO. 1 LOWER ARM BUSH


    1. A01LBGO

      Using a hammer and chisel, strike and bend the entire flange of the bush as shown in the illustration.

      Using SST and a press, press out the front No. 1 lower arm bush.

  9. REMOVE FRONT NO. 2 LOWER ARM BUSH


    1. A01LBGO

      Using a hammer and chisel, strike and bend the entire flange of the bush as shown in the illustration.

    2. B0068L2N01

      Using SST and a press, press out the front No. 2 lower arm bush.

  10. REMOVE FRONT LOWER BALL JOINT ASSEMBLY LH

      Using 2 screwdrivers and a hammer, remove the snap ring.

      Tech Tips

      Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

      Using SST, remove the front lower ball joint assembly LH.

  11. REMOVE FRONT NO. 1 SPRING BUMPER SUB-ASSEMBLY

      Using SST, remove the front No. 1 spring bumper sub-assembly from the vehicle.
