  • DC motor duty ratio 100%

  • DC motor current 0.5 A or less

  • Open in DC motor circuit

  • Turbo motor driver

  • DC Motor (turbocharger sub-assembly)

 Comes on DTC stored
P0048 Turbocharger/Supercharger Boost Control "A" Circuit High

DC motor current 6.5 A or more for 0.5 seconds or more

(1 trip detection logic)

  • Short in DC motor circuit

  • Turbo motor driver

  • DC Motor (turbocharger sub-assembly)

 Comes on DTC stored

DTC Detection Drive Pattern Drive the vehicle with a city driving pattern at least 10 minutes.

Tech Tips

Read freeze frame data using the GTS. Freeze frame data records the engine condition when malfunctions are detected. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can help determine if the vehicle was moving or stationary, if the engine was warmed up or not, and other data from the time the malfunction occurred.

PROCEDURE


  1. CHECK TURBOCHARGER SUB-ASSEMBLY (DC MOTOR OPERATION)


    1. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    2. Turn the ignition switch off and check the DC motor operation (check the operation link movement).

      Tech Tips

      When it is necessary to repeat this inspection, wait 30 seconds or more with the ignition switch off before performing the inspection.

      When the ignition switch is turned off, the operation link moves as shown in A to D in the illustration below and the operation link contacts the stopper bolt

  2. INSPECT TURBOCHARGER SUB-ASSEMBLY (DC MOTOR)

      Disconnect the DC motor connector.

    2. Measure the DC motor resistance.

      Standard resistance
      1 to 100 Ω

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (DC MOTOR - TURBO MOTOR DRIVER)


    1. Disconnect the DC motor connector.

    2. Disconnect the turbo motor driver connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      C90-12 (M+) - C91-2 (M+) Always Below 1 Ω
      C90-5 (M-) - C91-1 (M-) Always Below 1 Ω
      C90-12 (M+) or C91-2 (M+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      C90-5 (M-) or C91-1 (M-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    4. Reconnect the turbo motor driver connector.

    5. Reconnect the DC motor connector.

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR Click here

  4. REPLACE TURBO MOTOR DRIVER


    1. Replace the turbo motor driver.

  5. CHECK WHETHER DTC OUTPUT RECURS (DTC P0047 AND/OR P0048)


    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON and turn the GTS on.

    3. Clear the DTCs.


      Powertrain > Engine > Clear DTCs

    4. Start the engine.

    5. Drive the vehicle with a city driving pattern at least 10 minutes.

    6. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Trouble Codes.


      Powertrain > Engine > Trouble Codes

    7. Read the DTCs.

      Result
      Result Proceed to
      P0047 and/or P0048 is output A
      No DTC is output B

  6. REPLACE TURBOCHARGER SUB-ASSEMBLY


    1. Replace turbocharger sub-assembly.

    1. Repair or replace the harness or connector.

  8. CONFIRM WHETHER MALFUNCTION HAS BEEN SUCCESSFULLY REPAIRED


    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON and turn the GTS on.

    3. Clear the DTCs.


      Powertrain > Engine > Clear DTCs

    4. Start the engine.

    5. Drive the vehicle with a city driving pattern at least 10 minutes.

    6. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Trouble Codes.


      Powertrain > Engine > Trouble Codes

    7. Confirm that the DTC is not output again.
