HYBRID TRANSMISSION FLUID REPLACEMENT

PROCEDURE

1. REPLACE HYBRID TRANSMISSION FLUID

   
   

   1. Lift the vehicle. [*1]

   2. Remove the front suspension member brace.

      Click here

   3. Remove the No. 2 engine under cover. (w/ No. 2 Engine Under Cover)

      Click here

   4. 

      Remove the drain plug and gasket from the hybrid vehicle transmission assembly and drain the hybrid transmission fluid. [*2]

   5. Temporarily install the drain plug and gasket to the hybrid vehicle transmission assembly. [*3]

      Tech Tips

      Reuse the old gasket as the drain plug will be removed again.

   6. 

      Remove the refill plug and gasket from the hybrid vehicle transmission assembly. [*4]

   7. 

      *a	Filler Nozzle

      Add hybrid transmission fluid to the refill opening plug until the fluid level reaches the bottom lip of the refill plug opening. [*5]

      Note

      
      

      • Use Toyota Genuine ATF WS.

      • Be sure to fully insert the filler nozzle into the refill plug opening.

      • Be sure to add hybrid transmission fluid slowly. If hybrid transmission fluid is added quickly, the hybrid transmission fluid may hit internal parts and bounce back, resulting in fluid coming out of the refill plug opening.

      • An insufficient or excessive amount of hybrid transmission fluid may damage the hybrid vehicle transmission assembly.

      • Make sure that the hybrid transmission fluid temperature is 5°C (41°F) or more.

      3.8 liters (4.0 US qts, 3.3 Imp.qts)

   8. Temporarily install the refill plug and gasket to the hybrid vehicle transmission assembly. [*6]

      Tech Tips

      Reuse the old gasket as the refill plug will be removed again.

   9. Lower the vehicle. [*7]

   10. Put the engine in inspection mode. [*8]

   11. Idle the engine for one minute with the power switch on (READY). [*9]

       Tech Tips

       The oil pump will operate to circulate hybrid transmission fluid through the oil cooler system.

   12. Repeat steps [*1] to [*9].

   13. Repeat steps [*1] to [*2].

   14. Install the drain plug and a new gasket to the hybrid vehicle transmission assembly.

       Torque:

       20 N*m  { 204 kgf*cm, 15 ft.*lbf }

   15. Repeat steps [*4] to [*7].

   16. Add and adjust the hybrid transmission fluid.

       Click here

   17. Install the No. 2 engine under cover. (w/ No. 2 Engine Under Cover)

       Click here

   18. Install the front suspension member brace.

       Click here

   19. Lower the vehicle.

   20. Operation complete.
