TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE INSTALLATION

PROCEDURE


  1. INSTALL TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE ASSEMBLY


    1. A01V7E5

      Install the transmission control cable assembly to the body with the 2 bolts.

      Torque:
      5.0 N*m  { 51 kgf*cm, 44 in.*lbf }
    2. A01V7U3

      Install the transmission control cable assembly to rear engine mounting insulator with the bolt.

      Torque:
      5.0 N*m  { 51 kgf*cm, 44 in.*lbf }
    3. A01V9I0

      Install the transmission control cable assembly to the transmission control cable support with the nut.

      Torque:
      12 N*m  { 122 kgf*cm, 9 ft.*lbf }

      *a P Position
      *b N Position

      Turn the control shaft lever clockwise until it stops, then turn it counterclockwise 2 notches.

    5. A01VAKZ

      Install the transmission control cable assembly to the No. 1 transmission control cable bracket with a new clip.

    6. Install the transmission control cable assembly to the control shaft lever with the nut.

      Torque:
      12 N*m  { 122 kgf*cm, 9 ft.*lbf }

  2. CONNECT TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE ASSEMBLY


    1. Turn the nut of the transmission control cable 180° counterclockwise. While holding the nut in place, push in the stopper to lock the nut.

      Note

      Do not over-rotate the nut as it will come off the internal spring and the transmission control cable will not be reusable.

      Tech Tips

      If the stopper cannot be pushed in, slightly turn the nut clockwise and then push in the stopper again.

    2. Install the outer part of the transmission control cable assembly to the shift lever assembly. Check that the stopper returns to the pulled out position.

      A01V7YP Pull in this Direction

      Slide the slider in the direction shown in the illustration and pull out the lock piece.

      A01V9D5 Connect in this Direction

      Connect the end of the transmission control cable assembly to the shift lever assembly.

      Note


      • Make sure that the lock piece is pulled up.

      • Push on the end of the transmission control cable assembly all the way to the base of the pin.

      A01V9D5 Push in this Direction

      Gently pull the cable rod toward the rear of the vehicle by hand to pull the cable taut.

    6. Push the lock piece into the adjuster case and lock it.

      Note

      Make sure that the lock piece is completely locked by the slider.

  3. INSPECT SHIFT LEVER POSITION

  10. CONNECT RADIATOR HOSE SUB-ASSEMBLY

  11. INSTALL BATTERY TRAY

  12. INSTALL BATTERY

  13. INSTALL BATTERY CLAMP SUB-ASSEMBLY

  14. INSTALL AIR CLEANER CASE SUB-ASSEMBLY

  15. INSTALL AIR CLEANER FILTER ELEMENT SUB-ASSEMBLY


    1. Install the air cleaner filter element sub-assembly to the air cleaner case sub-assembly.

  16. INSTALL AIR CLEANER CAP SUB-ASSEMBLY

  17. INSTALL NO. 2 CYLINDER HEAD COVER

  18. CONNECT CABLE TO POSITIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

  19. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

    Note

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected.
