DESCRIPTION

The driving support ECU assembly and ECM always communicate the data for vehicle general control and diagnosis function to each other via a communication line.

The driving support ECU assembly sends a control demand signal to the ECM.

P1615 Communication Error from Distance Control ECU to ECM While the cruise control is either preparing for operation or operating, communication data from the driving support ECU assembly is logically inconsistent for a certain amount of time, the ECM stores this DTC.

Note

The cruise control system uses the CAN communication system. Inspect the communication function by following How to Proceed with Troubleshooting. Troubleshoot the cruise control system after confirming that the communication systems are functioning properly.

PROCEDURE


  1. REPLACE DRIVING SUPPORT ECU ASSEMBLY


    1. Replace the driving support ECU assembly.

      Note

      When replacing the driving support ECU assembly, always replace it with a new one. If a driving support ECU assembly which was installed to another vehicle is used, the information stored in the driving support ECU assembly will not match the information from the vehicle. As a result, a DTC may be stored.

  2. CHECK FOR DTCS (DTC P1615)


    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    3. Clear the DTCs.

      Powertrain > Engine and ECT > Clear DTCs

    4. Perform the following to make sure that the DTC detection conditions are met.

      Tech Tips

      If the detection conditions are not met, the malfunction cannot be detected.


      1. Drive the vehicle at a speed for which cruise control operation is possible.

      2. Turn the cruise control system on using the cruise control switch (ON-OFF button).

    5. Check for DTCs.
