CURTAIN SHIELD AIRBAG ASSEMBLY (for TMMK Made) REMOVAL

Tech Tips


  • Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side.

  • The following procedure is for the LH side.


  1. PRECAUTION

    CAUTION:

    Be sure to read Precaution thoroughly before servicing Click here.

    Note

    After turning the engine switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal notices before proceeding with work Click here.

  2. REMOVE ROOF HEADLINING ASSEMBLY

  3. REMOVE CURTAIN SHIELD AIRBAG ASSEMBLY

    CAUTION:

    When storing the curtain shield airbag assembly, keep the airbag deployment side facing upward.

    Note

    When removing the curtain shield airbag assembly, have assistants hold it to prevent it from bending.


    1. Check that the engine switch is off.

    2. Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) battery terminal.

      CAUTION:

      Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

      Using a screwdriver with its tip wrapped with protective tape, release the airbag connector lock and disconnect the airbag connector.

      Note

      When disconnecting any airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.

    4. Using needle nose pliers, remove the 5 pins from the 5 clips (A).

    5. Using 2 screwdrivers, disengage the 2 claws of each clip (A) and remove the 5 clips (A) from the vehicle body as shown in the illustration.

      Note

      Do not damage the vehicle body.

      Tech Tips

      Remove the 5 clips (A) and curtain shield airbag assembly from the vehicle body as a unit.

    6. While holding the curtain shield airbag assembly, disengage the 4 clips (B), remove the 3 bolts and curtain shield airbag assembly.

    7. Remove the 5 clips (A) and 2 spacers from the curtain shield airbag assembly.

  4. REMOVE REAR NO. 2 SIDE RAIL SPACER

      Disengage the 2 clips to remove the rear No. 2 side rail spacer.

  5. REMOVE REAR NO. 3 SIDE RAIL SPACER


    1. B000IDP

      Remove the bolt.

    2. Disengage the clip and remove the rear No. 3 side rail spacer.
