PRECAUTION
Note
After turning the ignition switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal notices before proceeding with work Click here.
DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
Note
When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Click here.
REMOVE REAR SEAT CUSHION ASSEMBLY
Lift up the front edge of the rear seat cushion assembly as shown in the illustration and disengage the 2 rear seat cushion frame hooks on the front side of the rear seat cushion assembly from the 2 rear seat cushion lock hooks.

Note
Be sure to hold the part of the rear seat cushion assembly directly next to the rear seat cushion lock hooks when lifting it up. Lifting a different part of the rear seat cushion assembly may deform the rear seat cushion frame.
Pass the 2 rear seat inner belt assemblies through the rear seat cushion assembly and remove the rear seat cushion assembly.
Note
Be careful not to damage the vehicle body.
REMOVE REAR SEAT CUSHION LOCK HOOK
Disengage the 2 claws to remove the rear seat cushion lock hook as shown in the illustration.
Note
Rear seat cushion lock hooks must not be reused.
Tech Tips
Use the same procedure for the RH side and the LH side.
REMOVE REAR SIDE SEATBACK ASSEMBLY LH
Disconnect the rear seat outer belt assembly from the rear seat shoulder belt guide.
Disconnect the connector.
Remove the 2 bolts.
Disengage the hook and remove the rear side seatback assembly LH.
REMOVE RADIO SETTING CONDENSER (for High Mounted Stop Light)
Note
When the terminal covers are removed, the radio setting condenser must be replaced because the terminal covers and condenser are supplied as a set.
Remove the bolt.
Disengage the clamp and disconnect the radio setting condenser with wire harness from the vehicle body.
Disengage the claw and pull out the cover as shown in the illustration.
Using a screwdriver, disengage the 6 claws and remove the 2 terminal covers with wire harness from the condenser.
Using a screwdriver, bend back and break off the claw as shown in the illustration.
Remove the terminal cover from the wire harness.
Note
Make sure to hold the wire harness on the crimping side of the terminal when disconnecting the wire harness from the terminal cover.
Make sure not to bend the exposed wire when disconnecting the wire harness from the terminal cover.
Check for deformation of the terminal after the wire harness has been removed from the terminal cover.
DISCONNECT REAR DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP LH (for Window Defogger)
Disconnect the rear door opening trim weatherstrip LH.
REMOVE ROOF SIDE INNER GARNISH LH (for Window Defogger)
Disengage the 5 clips.
Disengage the guide and remove the roof side inner garnish LH.
Remove the 5 clips from the roof side inner garnish LH.
REMOVE RADIO SETTING CONDENSER (for Window Defogger)
Note
When the terminal cover is removed, the radio setting condenser must be replaced because the terminal cover and condenser are supplied as a set.
Remove the bolt.
Disengage the 2 clamps and disconnect the radio setting condenser with wire harness from the vehicle body.
Using a screwdriver, disengage the 3 claws and remove the terminal cover with wire harness from the condenser.
Using a screwdriver, bend back and break off the claw as shown in the illustration.
Remove the terminal cover from the wire harness.
Note
Make sure to hold the wire harness on the crimping side of the terminal when disconnecting the wire harness from the terminal cover.
Make sure not to bend the exposed wire when disconnecting the wire harness from the terminal cover.
Check for deformation of the terminal after the wire harness has been removed from the terminal cover.
