KNEE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY REMOVAL

PROCEDURE


  1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

    CAUTION:

    Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

    Note

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Click here.

  2. REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY

  3. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL END LH

  4. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL END RH

  5. REMOVE CENTER INSTRUMENT PANEL REGISTER ASSEMBLY

  6. REMOVE RADIO RECEIVER ASSEMBLY (w/ Audio)


    1. for Radio Receiver Type:

      Remove the radio receiver assembly Click here.

    2. for Radio and Display Type:

      Remove the radio receiver assembly Click here.

  7. REMOVE CENTER INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY (w/o Audio)

  8. REMOVE STEREO OPENING COVER WITH BRACKET (w/o Audio)

  9. REMOVE SHIFT LEVER KNOB SUB-ASSEMBLY

  10. REMOVE POSITION INDICATOR HOUSING ASSEMBLY (except Manual Transaxle)

  11. REMOVE SHIFTING HOLE COVER (for Manual Transaxle)

  12. REMOVE LOWER CENTER INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL (for Manual Transaxle)

  13. REMOVE LOWER CENTER INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL (except Manual Transaxle)

  14. REMOVE NO. 2 SWITCH HOLE BASE

    Click here

  15. REMOVE NO. 1 SWITCH HOLE BASE

  16. REMOVE STEERING COLUMN COVER

  17. REMOVE LOWER NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL AIRBAG ASSEMBLY


    1. A002M8A

      Remove the 4 bolts.

    2. Detach the 6 claws and remove the instrument panel airbag.

    3. Disconnect the connector.

      Note

      When handling the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.
