DESCRIPTION

The side airbag sensor assembly LH and RH consists of the safing sensor, the diagnostic circuit, the lateral deceleration sensor, etc.

If the center airbag sensor assembly receives signals from the lateral deceleration sensor, it determines whether the SRS should be activated.

DTC B1620/21 or B1625/22 is recorded when a malfunction is detected in the side airbag sensor assembly LH or RH circuit.

Note


  • After turning the engine switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal notices before proceeding with work Click here.

  • When disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal while performing repairs, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Click here.

PROCEDURE


  1. CHECK FOR DTC


    1. Turn the engine switch on (IG), and wait for at least 60 seconds.

    2. Clear the DTCs stored in the memory Click here.

    3. Turn the engine switch off.

    4. Turn the engine switch on (IG), and wait for at least 60 seconds.

    5. Check for DTCs Click here.

      Result

      DTC B1620/21 and B1625/22 are not output A
      DTC B1625/22 is output B
      DTC B1620/21 is output C

      Codes other than DTC B1620/21 and B1625/22 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.

  2. CHECK SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY RH

    *1 Side Airbag Sensor Assembly LH
    *2 Rear Airbag Sensor RH

    1. Turn the engine switch off.

    2. Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait for at least 90 seconds.

    3. Interchange the side airbag sensor assembly RH with LH and connect the connectors to them.

    4. Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery, and wait for at least 2 seconds.

    5. Turn the engine switch on (IG), and wait for at least 60 seconds.

    6. Clear the DTCs stored in the memory Click here.

    7. Turn the engine switch off.

    8. Turn the engine switch on (IG), wait for at least 60 seconds.

    9. Check for DTCs Click here.

      DTC B1620/21 is output B
      DTC B1625/22 is output C

      Tech Tips

      Codes other than DTC B1620/21 and B1625/22 maybe output at this time, but they are not related to this check.

    10. Turn the engine switch off.

    11. Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait for at least 90 seconds.

    12. Return the side airbag sensor assembly LH and RH to their original positions and connect the connectors to them.

  3. CHECK SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY LH

    *1 Side Airbag Sensor Assembly RH
    *2 Rear Airbag Sensor LH

    1. Turn the engine switch off.

    2. Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait for at least 90 seconds.

    3. Interchange the side airbag sensor assembly LH with RH and connect the connectors to them.

    4. Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery, and wait for at least 2 seconds.

    5. Turn the engine switch on (IG), and wait for at least 60 seconds.

    6. Clear the DTCs stored in the memory Click here.

    7. Turn the engine switch off.

    8. Turn the engine switch on (IG), wait for at least 60 seconds.

    9. Check for DTCs Click here.

      Result Proceed to
      DTC B1620/21 and B1625/22 are not output A
      DTC B1620/21 is output B
