STEERING GEAR(for 2WD with VGRS) REMOVAL

PROCEDURE

1. PLACE FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD

2. REMOVE COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER

3. PRECAUTION

   Note

   After turning the engine switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal notices before proceeding with work Click here.

4. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

   Note

   When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Click here.

5. REMOVE FRONT WHEELS

6. REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER

   Click here

7. REMOVE FRONT SUSPENSION MEMBER PROTECTOR LOWER

   Click here

8. REMOVE NO. 2 ENGINE UNDER COVER

   Click here

9. DISCONNECT STEERING SLIDING WITH SHAFT YOKE SUB-ASSEMBLY

10. DISCONNECT TIE ROD ASSEMBLY LH

    Click here

11. DISCONNECT TIE ROD ASSEMBLY RH

    Tech Tips

    Use the same procedures described for the LH side.

12. REMOVE POWER STEERING LINK ASSEMBLY

    
    

    1. for LHD:

       Detach the 3 clips and disconnect the 5 connectors.

       

    2. for RHD:

       Detach the 5 clips and disconnect the 5 connectors.

       

    3. Remove the 4 bolts, 4 nuts and power steering link from the front frame and rack housing bracket.
