IGNITION COIL AND SPARK PLUG REMOVAL

PROCEDURE


  1. REMOVE COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER

  2. PRECAUTION

    Note

    After turning the engine switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal notice before proceeding with work Click here.

  3. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

    Note

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Click here.

  4. REMOVE V-BANK COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY

  5. REMOVE AIR CLEANER INLET COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY

  6. REMOVE ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER LH

      Remove the 5 clips and engine room side cover LH.

  7. REMOVE ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER RH

      Remove the 5 clips and engine room side cover RH.

  8. REMOVE NO. 1 AIR CLEANER INLET

  9. REMOVE INTAKE AIR CONNECTOR PIPE


    1. Disconnect the No. 1 and No. 2 ventilation hoses from the intake air connector pipe.

    2. Using a clip remover, detach the 2 wire harness clamps.

    3. Loosen the 3 hose clamps, and remove the intake air connector pipe.

    4. Remove the intake air sound creator.

      Tech Tips

      Only perform this procedure when replacement of the intake air sound creator is necessary.


      1. Loosen the hose clamp and remove the intake air sound creator.

  10. REMOVE AIR CLEANER ASSEMBLY LH

  12. REMOVE SKID CONTROL ECU BRACKET (for LHD)

    Click here

  13. REMOVE SKID CONTROL ECU BRACKET (for RHD)

  14. REMOVE BATTERY

    1. Disconnect the cable from the positive (+) battery terminal.

    2. Disconnect the battery cable clamp.

    3. Remove the nut, battery clamp and No. 2 battery clamp bolt.

    4. Remove the battery insulator.

    5. Remove the battery.

  15. REMOVE BATTERY TRAY

      Remove the 3 bolts and battery tray.

  16. DISCONNECT ENGINE WIRE


    1. Remove the No. 1 relay block cover.

    2. A001CXD

      Remove the nut and disconnect the engine wire from the No. 1 relay block.

    3. Disconnect the 2 clamps.

  17. REMOVE ENGINE OIL LEVEL DIPSTICK GUIDE (for AWD)

  18. REMOVE NO. 2 ENGINE COVER (for LHD with 2WD)

      Remove the 4 nuts and No. 2 engine cover.

  19. REMOVE NO. 5 ENGINE COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY (for AWD)

      Remove the 2 nuts and No. 5 engine cover sub-assembly.

  20. REMOVE NO. 6 ENGINE COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY (for AWD)

      Remove the 2 nuts and No. 6 engine cover sub-assembly.

  21. REMOVE IGNITION COIL ASSEMBLY

      Disconnect the 8 ignition coil assembly connectors.

    2. Remove the 8 bolts.

      *1 Protective Tape
      *2 Cutout

      Using a screwdriver, pry up each spark plug tube gasket at the cutouts to remove the 8 ignition coil assemblies together with the 8 spark plug tube gaskets.

      Note

      Do not damage the cylinder head cover when removing the spark plug tube gasket.

      Tech Tips

      Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

  22. REMOVE SPARK PLUG

      Using a 16 mm plug wrench, remove the 8 spark plugs.
