INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD REMOVAL

  2. ALIGN FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD

  3. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

    CAUTION:

    Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

    Note

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Click here.

  4. REMOVE SHIFT LEVER KNOB SUB-ASSEMBLY

      Turn the shift lever knob counterclockwise and remove the shift lever knob sub-assembly.

  5. REMOVE UPPER NO. 1 CONSOLE PANEL GARNISH

      Using a moulding remover, disengage the claw.

      Pull the upper No. 1 console panel garnish in the direction indicated by the arrow to disengage the 2 clips and remove the upper No. 1 console panel garnish.

  6. REMOVE UPPER NO. 2 CONSOLE PANEL GARNISH

      Using a moulding remover, disengage the claw.

    2. A015ZBL

      Pull the upper No. 2 console panel garnish in the direction indicated by the arrow to disengage the 2 clips and remove the upper No. 2 console panel garnish.

  7. REMOVE CONSOLE PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY

      Hold the front of the console panel sub-assembly as shown in the illustration and disengage the 8 clips by pulling the console panel sub-assembly in the direction shown by the arrow.

      Note

      Do not use any tools to disengage the clips. The use of tools may result in damage to the console panel sub-assembly.

    2. Disconnect the connectors and remove the console panel sub-assembly.

  8. REMOVE FRONT ASH RECEPTACLE ASSEMBLY

      Remove the 2 screws <E>.

    2. A0163HR

      Pull the front ash receptacle assembly in the direction indicated by the arrow to disconnect the connectors and remove the front ash receptacle assembly.

  9. REMOVE REAR ASH RECEPTACLE ASSEMBLY


    1. Remove the rear ash receptacle assembly.

  10. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX REGISTER ASSEMBLY

      Disengage the 2 claws and 4 clips, and then remove the console box register assembly.

  11. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX

      Remove the 2 bolts.

    2. Disconnect the 2 connectors.

    3. Disengage the 2 clamps.

      Remove the 2 bolts.

    5. Disconnect the connector.

      Remove the 2 bolts.

    7. A0162J5

      Disengage the 2 claws and 2 clips, and then remove the console box.

  12. REMOVE NO. 3 INSTRUMENT PANEL REGISTER ASSEMBLY

      Using a screwdriver, disengage the 4 claws.

      Tech Tips

      Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

      Apply protective tape to the areas shown in the illustration.

      Using a moulding remover, disengage the 4 claws starting from the left of the No. 3 instrument panel register assembly. Disengage the remaining 3 claws by pulling the No. 3 instrument panel register assembly by hand.

      Note

      Do not pry the lower part of the No. 3 instrument panel register assembly. Doing so may damage the assembly.

      1. Disconnect the connector and remove the No. 3 instrument panel register assembly.

      for RHD:


      1. Disengage the 3 clamps.

      2. Disconnect the connector and remove the No. 3 instrument panel register assembly.

  13. REMOVE CENTER LOWER INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL

      Disengage the 4 claws to remove the center lower instrument cluster finish panel.

  14. REMOVE MULTI-DISPLAY WITH RADIO RECEIVER ASSEMBLY (w/ Navigation System)

      Remove the 4 bolts.

    2. Pull the multi-display with radio receiver assembly toward the rear of the vehicle.

    3. Disconnect each connector and remove the multi-display.

  15. REMOVE INTEGRATION CONTROL PANEL WITH RADIO RECEIVER ASSEMBLY (w/o Navigation System)


    1. A015ZQC

      Remove the 4 bolts.

    2. Pull the integration control panel with radio receiver assembly toward the rear of the vehicle.

    3. Disconnect each connector and remove the panel.

  16. REMOVE LOWER NO. 2 STEERING WHEEL COVER


    1. A0160QU

      Disengage the claw and remove the lower No. 2 steering wheel cover.

  17. REMOVE LOWER NO. 3 STEERING WHEEL COVER

      Disengage the claw and remove the lower No. 3 steering wheel cover.

  18. REMOVE STEERING PAD


    1. Check that the engine switch is off.

    2. Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) battery terminal.

      CAUTION:

      Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

      Using a T30 "TORX" socket wrench, loosen the 2 "TORX" screws until the groove along the screw circumference catches on the screw case.

      Pull out the steering pad from the steering wheel assembly.

      Note

      When removing the steering pad, do not pull the airbag wire harness.

    5. Disconnect the horn connector from the steering pad.

    6. Disconnect the 2 airbag connectors and remove the steering pad.

      Note

      When disconnecting the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.

  19. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY

      Remove the steering wheel assembly set nut.

    2. Put matchmarks on the steering wheel assembly and the steering main shaft.

    3. Disconnect the connectors from the spiral cable.

      Install SST to the steering wheel assembly as shown in the illustration.

      SST
      09950-50013   ( 09951-05010, 09952-05010, 09953-05020, 09954-05021 )

      Note

      Apply a small amount of grease to the threads and tip of SST (09953-05020) before use.

      Using SST, remove the steering wheel assembly.

  20. REMOVE STEERING COLUMN COVER


    1. A0160S7

      Remove the 3 screws.

    2. A0162IK

      Disengage the 2 claws to remove the lower steering column cover.

      Note

      Do not damage the tilt and telescopic switch.

      Disengage the claw.

    4. A015YPR

      Disengage the 4 clips and 2 guides to separate the upper steering column cover.

  21. REMOVE TURN SIGNAL SWITCH ASSEMBLY WITH SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY


    1. Disconnect the connectors from the turn signal switch assembly with spiral cable sub-assembly.

      Using pliers, grip the claws of the clip and remove the turn signal switch assembly with spiral cable sub-assembly from the steering column assembly.

  22. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH

      Put protective tape around the front door scuff plate.

    2. Using a moulding remover, disengage the 4 clips.

    3. A0161H2

      Disengage the 7 claws and remove the front door scuff plate LH.

  23. REMOVE FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM COVER LH

      Disengage the 4 claws and remove the front door opening trim cover LH.

  24. REMOVE SIDE INSTRUMENT PANEL LH


    1. A015ZPA

      Using a moulding remover, disengage the 5 claws and 3 clips to remove the side instrument panel LH.

  25. REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY

      Remove the 2 screws <D>.

    2. Push the 2 claws in the direction indicated by the arrow to disengage them.

    3. Remove the No. 1 instrument panel under cover sub-assembly from the guide as shown in the illustration and pull the cover toward the rear of the vehicle.

    4. Disconnect the connectors and remove the No. 1 instrument panel under cover sub-assembly.

  26. REMOVE LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY


    1. A0160VQ

      Disengage the 7 clips.

    2. Disconnect the connectors and remove the lower instrument panel finish panel sub-assembly.

  27. REMOVE DRIVER SIDE KNEE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY


    1. Check that the engine switch is off.

    2. Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) battery terminal.

      CAUTION:

      Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

      Disengage the claw and separate the hood lock control cable.

    4. A0160VX

      Remove the 4 bolts.

    5. A0161L3

      Disengage the 2 pins and separate the driver side knee airbag assembly.

    6. Disconnect the connector and remove the driver side knee airbag assembly.

      Note

      When disconnecting the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.

  28. REMOVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY

      Remove the 2 screws <F> and 2 clips, and then remove the instrument cluster finish panel sub-assembly.

  29. REMOVE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY

      Using a screwdriver, disengage the 2 claws.

      Tech Tips

      Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

    2. Disconnect the connectors and remove the combination meter assembly.

  32. REMOVE SIDE INSTRUMENT PANEL RH

      Using a moulding remover, disengage the 5 claws and 3 clips to remove the side instrument panel RH.

  33. REMOVE NO. 2 INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY

      Using a moulding remover, disengage the 4 clips and remove the No. 2 instrument panel under cover sub-assembly.

  34. REMOVE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE KNEE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY


    1. Check that the engine switch is off.

    2. Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) battery terminal.

      CAUTION:

      Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

      Remove the 3 bolts.

    4. Disengage the claw and separate the front passenger side knee airbag assembly.

    5. Disconnect the connector and remove the front passenger side knee airbag assembly.

      Note

      When disconnecting the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.

  35. REMOVE GLOVE COMPARTMENT DOOR ASSEMBLY

      Remove the 5 screws <D>.

    2. Disengage the 2 claws.

    3. Disconnect the connectors and remove the glove compartment door assembly.

  36. REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISH LH

      Disengage the 2 clips from the vehicle body.

    2. Cut off the clip <A>.

    3. Disengage the guide and remove the front pillar garnish LH.

    4. Remove the clip <A> from the vehicle body.

    5. A0162A3E01

      Protect the curtain shield airbag assembly.


      1. Thoroughly cover the airbag with a cloth or nylon sheet and fix the ends of the cover with adhesive tape, as shown in the illustration.

        Note

        Cover the curtain shield airbag with a protective cover as soon as the front pillar garnish is removed.

  38. REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL REGISTER ASSEMBLY


    1. Pull the No. 1 instrument panel register assembly in the direction indicated by the arrow to disengage the 7 claws and 2 clips, and then disconnect the connector and remove the No. 1 instrument panel register assembly.

  39. REMOVE NO. 2 INSTRUMENT PANEL REGISTER ASSEMBLY


    1. Pull the No. 2 instrument panel register assembly in the direction indicated by the arrow to disengage the 4 claws and 2 clips, and then disconnect the connector and remove the No. 2 instrument panel register assembly.

      Using a screwdriver, disengage the 7 claws and 2 clips, and remove the No. 3 instrument panel speaker panel sub-assembly.

      Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

  41. REMOVE FRONT STEREO COMPONENT SPEAKER ASSEMBLY (w/ Front Center Speaker)

      Remove the 2 bolts.

    2. Lift the front stereo component speaker assembly and disconnect the connector to remove the speaker assembly.

      Note

      Do not touch the cone part of the speaker.

  42. REMOVE NO. 2 CONSOLE BOX DUCT

      Remove the 2 clips and No. 2 console box duct.

  43. REMOVE NO. 1 CONSOLE BOX DUCT

      Remove the clip and No. 1 console box duct.

  44. DISCONNECT INSTRUMENT PANEL WIRE ASSEMBLY


    1. Check that the engine switch is off.

    2. Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) battery terminal.

      CAUTION:

      Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

      Disconnect the connector.

      Note

      When disconnecting the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.

  45. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD ASSEMBLY


    1. Disengage the clamps.

    2. Disconnect the connectors.

    3. Disengage the 2 claws and separate the cooler thermistor.

    4. Remove the 6 bolts <C> and nut <G>.

    5. Remove the 2 passenger airbag bolts <A> or <B>.

    6. Disengage the 2 clamps.

    7. Disengage the 5 claws and remove the instrument panel safety pad assembly.

    1. Disengage the 4 claws to remove the 4 instrument panel clips.
