PARKING BRAKE PEDAL INSTALLATION


  1. INSTALL PARKING BRAKE CONTROL PEDAL ASSEMBLY (for LHD)


    1. A0161CJE01

      Install the parking brake control pedal assembly to the body, and temporarily tighten the 3 nuts.

    2. Fully tighten the 3 nuts in the order shown in the illustration.

      Torque:
      13 N*m  { 133 kgf*cm, 10 ft.*lbf }

    3. Connect the parking brake switch connector.

      Install the instrument panel junction block assembly with the 2 nuts.

    5. Install the No. 1 parking brake cable assembly to the body with the 3 nuts and 2 bolts.

      Torque:
      Nut
      6.0 N*m  { 61 kgf*cm, 53 in.*lbf }
      Bolt
      8.0 N*m  { 82 kgf*cm, 71 in.*lbf }

  2. INSTALL PARKING BRAKE CONTROL PEDAL ASSEMBLY (for RHD)


    1. A0161T9E01

      Install the parking brake control pedal assembly to the body, and temporarily tighten the bolt and 2 nuts.

    2. Fully tighten the bolt and 2 nuts in the order shown in the illustration.

      Torque:
      13 N*m  { 133 kgf*cm, 10 ft.*lbf }

    3. Connect the parking brake switch connector.

      Install the No. 1 parking brake cable assembly to the body with the 2 bolts.

      Torque:
      8.0 N*m  { 82 kgf*cm, 71 in.*lbf }
    5. A0162DZ

      Install the No. 1 parking brake cable assembly with the 2 nuts.

      Torque:
      6.0 N*m  { 61 kgf*cm, 53 in.*lbf }

  3. INSTALL NO. 1 AIR DUCT (for RHD)


    1. A015ZGF

      Engage the claw and guide, and install the No. 1 air duct.

  4. INSTALL PARKING BRAKE EQUALIZER


    1. A0161U9E01

      Install the parking brake equalizer to the No. 1 parking brake cable assembly in the order shown in the illustration.

    2. A015YIAE01

      Slide the rubber boot back as shown in the illustration.

      Connect the No. 2 parking brake cable assembly and No. 3 parking brake cable assembly to the parking brake equalizer.

    4. Install the No. 2 parking brake cable assembly and No. 3 parking brake cable assembly to the body with the 2 bolts.

      Torque:
      6.0 N*m  { 61 kgf*cm, 53 in.*lbf }

  5. INSTALL PARKING BRAKE RETURN WITH DAMPER SPRING


    1. A0160K2

      Install the parking brake return with damper spring.

  6. INSTALL PROPELLER SHAFT WITH CENTER BEARING ASSEMBLY

  7. INSTALL FRONT UPPER FLOOR REAR SUB PANEL

      Install the front upper floor rear sub panel to the body with the 4 bolts.

      Torque:
      18 N*m  { 184 kgf*cm, 13 ft.*lbf }

    2. Engage the 8 clamps.

  8. INSTALL CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY


    1. Check that the engine switch is off.

    2. Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) battery terminal.

      CAUTION:

      Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

      Install the center airbag sensor assembly with the 2 bolts and nut.

      Torque:
      18 N*m  { 184 kgf*cm, 13 ft.*lbf }

      Note


      • If the center airbag sensor assembly has been dropped, or there are any cracks, dents or other defects in the case or connector, replace it with a new one.

      • When installing the center airbag sensor assembly, be careful that the SRS wiring does not interfere with other parts and that it is not pinched between other parts.

      • When the engine switch is first turned on (IG) after the center airbag sensor assembly has been replaced, make sure that no one is in the vehicle.

    4. Connect the holder (with connectors).

      Note

      When connecting the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.

    5. Check that the waterproof sheet is properly set.

    6. Check that there is no looseness in the installation parts of the center airbag sensor assembly.

  9. INSTALL NO. 2 REAR AIR DUCT (for LHD)

  10. INSTALL NO. 1 REAR AIR DUCT (for RHD)

  11. INSTALL REAR AIR DUCT GUIDE LH (for LHD)

  12. INSTALL REAR AIR DUCT GUIDE RH (for RHD)

  13. INSTALL FRONT FLOOR SILENCER PAD LH (for LHD)

  14. INSTALL FRONT FLOOR SILENCER PAD RH (for RHD)

  15. INSTALL NO. 3 DASH PANEL INSULATOR PAD


    1. Install the No. 3 dash panel insulator pad with the clip.

  16. INSTALL FRONT FLOOR FOOTREST LH (for LHD)


    1. Engage the 2 clips and install the front floor footrest LH.

  17. INSTALL FRONT FLOOR FOOTREST RH (for RHD)


    1. Engage the 2 clips and install the front floor footrest RH.

  18. INSTALL LOWER CENTER PILLAR GARNISH LH (for LHD)

      Engage the 5 clips and 3 claws, and install the lower center pillar garnish LH.

  19. INSTALL FRONT SEAT OUTER BELT ASSEMBLY LH (for LHD)


    1. A015Z32

      Install the front seat outer belt assembly LH with the bolt.

      Torque:
      42 N*m  { 428 kgf*cm, 31 ft.*lbf }

  20. INSTALL REAR DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH (for LHD)


    1. A016266

      Engage the 2 clips.

    2. A015YIJ

      Engage the 5 claws and install the rear door scuff plate LH.

  21. INSTALL LOWER CENTER PILLAR GARNISH RH (for RHD)

    Tech Tips

    Use the same procedure for the RH side and the LH side.

  22. INSTALL FRONT SEAT OUTER BELT ASSEMBLY RH (for RHD)

    Use the same procedure for the RH side and the LH side.

  23. INSTALL REAR DOOR SCUFF PLATE RH (for RHD)

    Tech Tips

    Use the same procedure for the RH side and the LH side.

  24. INSTALL LAP BELT OUTER ANCHOR COVER

      Engage the 2 claws and install the lap belt outer anchor cover as shown in the illustration.

      Tech Tips

      Use the same procedure to install the cover on the other side.

  30. INSTALL REAR SEAT CUSHION ASSEMBLY

      Engage the 2 rear hooks of the seat cushion to the child restraint seat anchor bracket.

    2. Engage the 2 front hooks of the seat cushion to the vehicle body.

    3. Confirm that the seat cushion is firmly installed.

      Note

      When installing the seat cushion, make sure the seat belt buckle is not under the seat cushion.

  31. ADJUST PARKING BRAKE SHOE CLEARANCE AND PARKING BRAKE PEDAL TRAVEL


    1. Remove the No. 1 instrument panel under cover sub-assembly Click here.

    2. Completely release the parking brake pedal.

      Loosen the lock nut and No. 1 wire adjusting nut to completely release the parking brake cable.

    4. Remove the rear wheel.

    5. Temporarily install the hub nuts.

    6. Remove the shoe adjusting hole plug.

      Turn the shoe adjuster and expand the shoe until the disc locks.

    8. Turn and contract the shoe adjuster until the disc can rotate smoothly.

      Standard
      Return 7 notches.

    9. Check that there is no brake drag against the shoe.

    10. Install the shoe adjusting hole plug.

    11. Turn the adjusting nut until the parking brake pedal travel is corrected to be within the specified range.

      Parking brake pedal travel
      7 to 9 notches at 300 N (31 kgf, 67.5 lbf)

    12. Using a wrench or an equivalent tool, hold the adjusting nut and tighten the lock nut.

      Torque:
      7.0 N*m  { 71 kgf*cm, 62 in.*lbf }

    13. Operate the parking brake pedal 3 to 4 times, and check the parking brake pedal travel.

    14. Check that there is no brake drag against the shoe.

    15. Remove the hub nuts.

    16. Install the rear wheel.

      Torque:
      103 N*m  { 1050 kgf*cm, 76 ft.*lbf }

    17. Install the No. 1 instrument panel under cover sub-assembly Click here.

  32. INSPECT BRAKE WARNING LIGHT


    1. When operating the parking brake pedal, check that the brake warning light illuminates.
