PRECAUTION
Note
After turning the engine switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal notice before proceeding with work Click here.
REMOVE COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER RH
for LHD:
Remove the 6 clips and cowl top ventilator louver RH.
for RHD:
Remove the 6 clips and cowl top ventilator louver LH.
DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
Note
When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Click here.
REMOVE LOWER NO. 3 STEERING WHEEL COVER

Put protective tape around the lower No. 3 steering wheel cover.
Using a screwdriver, detach the claw to remove the lower No. 3 steering wheel cover.
Tech Tips
Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
REMOVE LOWER NO. 2 STEERING WHEEL COVER

Put protective tape around the lower No. 2 steering wheel cover.
Using a screwdriver, detach the claw to remove the lower No. 2 steering wheel cover.
Tech Tips
Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
REMOVE STEERING PAD
CAUTION:
When storing the steering pad, keep the airbag deployment side facing upward.
Check that the engine switch is off.
Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) battery terminal.
CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

Using a screwdriver, push the 3 torsion springs to detach the 3 pins as shown in the illustration.
Tech Tips
Insert the screwdriver into the installation holes in the lower No. 3 steering wheel cover and lower No. 2 steering wheel cover.
Pull out the steering pad from the steering wheel assembly and support the steering pad with one hand.
Note
When removing the steering pad, do not pull the airbag wire harness.
Do not drop the steering pad.
Using a screwdriver release the 2 airbag connector locks.
Using a screwdriver disconnect the 2 airbag connectors from the steering pad.
Note
When disconnecting airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.
Disconnect the horn connector from the steering pad to remove the steering pad.
REMOVE CRUISE CONTROL MAIN SWITCH ASSEMBLY
Remove the 2 screws.
Disconnect the connector and remove the cruise control main switch assembly.
