AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION REAR OIL SEAL REPLACEMENT


  1. REMOVE PROPELLER WITH CENTER BEARING SHAFT ASSEMBLY

  2. REMOVE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLANGE YOKE ASSEMBLY

    1. Using SST and a hammer, loosen the staked part of the nut.

      SST

      Note


      • Be sure to use SST with the tapered surface facing the shaft.

      • Do not grind the tip of SST with a grinder or other device.

      • Completely loosen the staked part of the lock nut when removing it.

      • Do not damage the threads of the shaft.

      Tech Tips

      Move the shift lever to P.

      Set SST.

    3. Using SST and a 30 mm socket wrench, remove the nut.

    4. Remove SST.

    5. Tap out the flange yoke with a plastic-faced hammer to remove it.

      Using a screwdriver, pry out the oil seal from the automatic transmission flange yoke.

  3. REMOVE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION REAR OIL SEAL

    1. Using SST, tap out the automatic transmission oil seal.

  4. INSTALL AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION REAR OIL SEAL


    1. Coat the lip of a new automatic transmission oil seal. with MP grease.

      Using SST and a hammer, tap in the automatic transmission oil seal..

      Standard depth
      3.5 +/-0.2 mm (0.138 +/-0.008 in.)

  5. INSTALL AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLANGE YOKE ASSEMBLY

    1. Using SST and a hammer, tap in a new oil seal.

      09950-70010   ( 09951-07100 )
      Oil seal drive in depth
      0 to 0.3 mm (0 to 0.0118 in.)

    2. Install the automatic transmission flange yoke assembly.

      Set SST.

    4. Using SST and a 30 mm socket wrench, install and tighten a new nut.

      Torque:
      126 N*m  { 1285 kgf*cm, 93 ft.*lbf }

      Using a chisel and hammer, securely stake the lock nut.
