VALVE BODY ASSEMBLY INSTALLATION


  1. INSTALL TRANSMISSION VALVE BODY ASSEMBLY


    1. Coat 2 new O-rings with ATF and install them to the 2 transmission solenoid assemblies (SL1, SL2).

    2. Install the line pressure control solenoid assembly (SLT) with the solenoid lock plate and bolt.

      Torque:
      6.4 N*m  { 64 kgf*cm, 56 in.*lbf }

    3. Install the shift control solenoid (SLU) with the solenoid lock plate and bolt.

      Torque:
      10 N*m  { 102 kgf*cm, 7 ft.*lbf }

    4. Install the automatic transmission solenoid assembly (SL1) and automatic transmission solenoid assembly (SL2) with a bolt.

      Torque:
      6.4 N*m  { 64 kgf*cm, 56 in.*lbf }
    5. A01BG1OE01

      Check that the check ball body and spring in the transmission valve body.

    6. Install the link of manual valve and temporality install the transmission valve body.

    7. A01BDN0E07

      Install the transmission valve body with 20 bolts.

      Torque:
      11 N*m  { 112 kgf*cm, 8 ft.*lbf }

      Tech Tips


      • Bolt A: 23 mm (0.91 in)

      • Bolt B: 28 mm (1.10 in)

      • Bolt C: 36 mm (1.42 in)

  2. CONNECT TRANSMISSION WIRE


    1. A01BESI

      Connect the ATF temperature sensor and 4 transmission solenoid connectors to the transmission valve body.

  3. INSTALL VALVE BODY OIL STRAINER ASSEMBLY


    1. A01BATPE07

      Install 3 new gaskets to the oil strainer assembly.

    2. Install the oil strainer assembly to the transmission valve body with 4 bolts.

      Torque:
      11 N*m  { 112 kgf*cm, 8 ft.*lbf }

  4. INSTALL AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION OIL PAN SUB-ASSEMBLY


    1. A01BBFUE07

      Install the 3 magnets to the transmission oil pan.

    2. A01BAYWE04

      Remove any FIPG material and be careful not to drop oil on the contacting surfaces of the transmission case and the oil pan.

    3. Apply FIPG to the oil pan.

      FIPG
      Toyota Genuine Seal Packing 1281, Three Bond 1281 or equivalent
    4. A01BHOD

      Uniformly tighten the 19 bolts in several times and install the transmission oil pan.

      Torque:
      7.4 N*m  { 75 kgf*cm, 65 in.*lbf }

  5. INSTALL TRANSMISSION OIL FILLER TUBE SUB-ASSEMBLY


    1. A01BCTHE05

      Cort a new O-ring with ATF and install it to the oil filler tube.

    2. Install the oil filler tube with 2 bolts.

      Torque:
      12 N*m  { 122 kgf*cm, 10 ft.*lbf }

  6. CONNECT BATTERY NEGATIVE CABLE

  7. ADD AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID

  8. INSPECT AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID

    Tech Tips

    Drive the vehicle so that the engine and transmission are at normal operating temperature.

    Fluid temperature
    70 to 80 °C (158 to 176 °F)

      Park the vehicle on a level surface and set the parking brake.

    2. With the engine idling and the brake pedal depressed, move shift the lever into all positions from P to L and return to the P position.

    3. Take out the dipstick and wipe it clean.

    4. Put it back all the way.

    5. Take it out again and check that the fluid level is within the HOT range.

      If the fluid level is below the HOT range, add new fluid and recheck the fluid level. If the fluid level exceeds the HOT range, drain the fluid once, add the proper amount of new fluid and recheck the fluid level.
