CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT
Tech Tips
Use the same procedure for the RH side as for the LH side.
The procedure listed below is for the LH side.
PROCEDURE
REMOVE WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR AND LINK
REMOVE FRONT NO. 1 VENTILATOR SEAL
REMOVE FRONT AIR SHUTTER SEAL RH
REMOVE INNER COWL TOP TO COWL BRACE
REMOVE OUTER COWL TOP PANEL
REMOVE FRONT WHEEL
SEPARATE FRONT STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY
Remove the nut to separate the front stabilizer link assembly from the front shock absorber.
Tech Tips
If the ball joint turns together with the nut, use a 6 mm hexagon socket wrench to hold the studbolt.
SEPARATE FRONT FLEXIBLE HOSE
Remove the bolt and separate the front speed sensor and front flexible hose.
REMOVE FRONT SUSPENSION SUPPORT DUST COVER
Remove the front suspension support dust cover from the front No. 2 suspension support.
REMOVE FRONT SHOCK ABSORBER WITH COIL SPRING
Remove the 2 nuts and 2 bolts and separate the front shock absorber with coil spring from the steering knuckle.
Tech Tips
Keep the bolt from rotating while loosening and removing the nuts.
Using a 6 mm hexagon socket wrench, fix the front shock absorber rod and remove the nut.
Remove the front No. 2 suspension support.
Remove the front shock absorber with coil spring from the vehicle.
REMOVE FRONT SUSPENSION SUPPORT SUB-ASSEMBLY
Remove the front suspension support sub-assembly from the front shock absorber with coil spring.
REMOVE FRONT COIL SPRING UPPER SEAT
Using a 6 mm hexagon socket wrench, fix the shock absorber rod and loosen the nut.
CAUTION:
Do not remove the nut when the front coil spring is not free.
Secure SST in a vise.
| *a | Correct |
| *b | Incorrect |
| *c | Parallel |
| *d | Not Parallel |
Attach the hooks of each SST arm across the diameter of the front coil spring.
CAUTION:
Make sure that the hooks of the upper and lower arms are attached to the front coil spring so that the distance between the hooks is as large as possible.
Make sure that the arms of SST are parallel and attached to the front coil spring, and the number of front coil springs between the hooks on each side is the same.
Check that the claws of the hooks are securely attached to the front coil spring.
| *a | Correct |
| *b | Incorrect |
| *c | Stopper Pin |
Install the stopper pins to the hooks of SST.
CAUTION:
Make sure that the stopper pins are installed securely.
Using SST, compress the front coil spring.
CAUTION:
If the front coil spring buckles while using SST, stop immediately and reattach SST correctly.
Do not compress the front coil spring to the point where the coils touch each other.
Do not use an impact wrench.
If a stopper pin touches the front coil spring while using SST, remove the stopper pin and continue with the procedure. In this case, installing the coil spring stopper belt as shown in the illustration is recommended.
Confirm that the front coil spring becomes free and remove the nut.
CAUTION:
Do not remove the nut when the front coil spring is not free.
Remove the front coil spring upper seat with the strut mounting bearing and front spring bumper from the front shock absorber.
REMOVE FRONT COIL SPRING UPPER INSULATOR
Remove the front coil spring upper insulator from the front shock absorber.
REMOVE FRONT COIL SPRING
Remove the front coil spring from the front shock absorber.
REMOVE FRONT COIL SPRING LOWER INSULATOR (except 2ZR-FE)
Remove the front coil spring lower insulator from the front shock absorber.
REMOVE FRONT SPRING BUMPER
Remove the front spring bumper from the front coil spring upper seat.
REMOVE STRUT MOUNTING BEARING
Using a brass bar and press, remove the strut mounting bearing from the front coil spring upper seat.
